Yeah, that did not last long. I had switched to chrome as it is faster to load and faster in general (most of the time), but I ran into too many weird bugs. One weird bug is checkboxes randomly vanish. I am working on a web based app that has lot of checkboxes. It was annoying having to keep restarting it. There's another issue where at random, if I click on a link, or even a favorite shortcut, it takes ages for it to open. For some reason, the google home page always took very long to come up. In firefox I hit home and it's instant.

I liked chrome for the multi process thing, so when I accidentally click a link going to liveleak.com (which crashes my browser for w/e reason) it would only crash that tab. I also missed noscript.

So I'm back to Firefox. Now I need to make a speech and look straight at the camera, while I apologize to it. :awe:

Eventually when I have more time on my hands I want to look into how hard it would be to take the FF source and make a "lite" version. Or if someone beats me to it, then even better.

I tried Chrome, as I occassionally try opera as well, but its hard to depart from the plethora of conveniences and controls found in the bountiful firefox extensions.

No browser is perfect. I currently use Firefox but also have Chrome installed. I like the feel of Chrome but am so used to Firefox and all those precious add-ons. The Chrome add-ons are buggy and feature incomplete at this stage. Firefox 4.0 vs Chrome 19 will be interesting.

I like Firefox best by a long shot. I'm using Chrome on my netbook because Firefox hits the SSD too hard, but as soon as I format to EXT4 I'm switching back(I think this will fix the problem). I had to use Firefox on my netbook last night. I clicked a link, and since Chrome has useless adblocking, the site wouldn't load at all. I was stuck waiting for a dead adserver :^S I also don't like the stripped gui. I have crap all over my Firefox browser, and I use every bit of it. Chrome just can't compare.

Yeah, firefox extensions are pretty much the only thing keeping me here. They're making my firefox a little bloated and slow, but I need all the functionality, dammit!

i really tried liking chrome, but i just couldn't leave firefox behind. the only thing i really liked is that the google mail notifier works for my google accounts email address. i can't find one on firefox that works for whatever reason.

i like the idea of chrome, but i like the functionality of firefox better.

I've been using Chrome on Linux for a few weeks now and haven't noticed any performance issues except that the type-ahead-fine extension broke after the last update I did.

I really liked Chrome BUT IT WAS SO FV@#$%#$^#@$ SLOW that I had to switch away again.

I just saw what you were talking about a little while ago. When I had chrome open for some strange reason even my other applications would take a while to redraw their screen when I went back to them. Not sure what was up with that. After I closed Chrome everything was fine again. Strange. Didn't expect a browser to do that. I have 8 GB of ram too.

I did the same thing. Was using Chrome for a few months as it seemed to be faster and I liked some of the new features (bookmark sync in particular) but particular pages would render in odd ways; so, I moved back to Firefox when 3.6 was released and that was that.

I was on Chrome for a year, but I switched back to Firefox when 3.6 came out.

A few addons later, here is what my browser looks like.

That's the Strata theme right?

On 2nd thought maybe that isn't Strata... can you tell me how you got your FF to look like that? I've seen themes with the tabs on top but I've never seen the title bar removed like that.

Also, what's up with this?

Is the new Firefox 3.6 better than the older 3.5.8? I'm running XP Pro 32 bit on one machine and Win 7 64 bit on another. I don't want to update my self into problems.
Thanks

Yes, i'd say so. It's faster also. I've updated many machines with no problems.

What extensions do you use?

This thread is blowing my mind. Been having latency issues on my machines with FF, so just installed Chrome. But I'm thinking maybe I'll move back to FF. Maybe if I don't have so many windows/tabs open the latency issues in Firefox (I'm running 3.5.7 and 3.5.8 on different machines) will disappear. I'm pretty sure it's not for lack of RAM.

You mean I'll have the same latency issues even when there's just one window and 10 tabs? At the moment, that's what I've got. Before I had around 10 windows, close to 200 tabs and the pauses were driving me nuts. I've gotten kind of used to it,yeah, but I still don't like it. Right now, no latency! Maybe if I keep things so there's less than 30-40 tabs open it'll be OK.
