As cold as it may sound, I agree. Alcoholism is brought on by one's self. I truly hope you can get better and then never do this to yourself again OP. It's even sadder when it happens again

He also pm'ed me hours ago when I asked him for help for EE hw (solved it btw), and he said he wasn't sober at the time apparently.

I remember drinking every weekend (Thurs-Mon) for almost a year and kept saying it wasn't a problem. Than my mom and ex flipped on me and I went two weekends without booze and my body felt like it was dying, barely touch alcohol since than.

heh, i was talking to one of my former roomate from a rehab on the cape and he asked me if i was praying everyday, getting on my knees and asking for help. i told him i was but i was getting tired of crying everytime i did. this guy is like 6'5", 315 and he told me that God wouldn't have given us tear ducts if He didn't want us to cry.


i know what you're going thru John, and i got that old roomie coming to see me thursday.

dude, you'll pull through. You have a support of your close friends and family. I've never thought that I'd ask for help from my friends. When I did, I never knew that your friends are ALWAYS WILLING to help without reciprocation. Family will do the same and more. I realized that us humans, as social beings, have evolved to help our next-of-kin and community without reward. It is in our best interest to help each other out to ensure our communal success. You have us, a community of nerds no less , who will always encourage you and each other when asked for. I've seen Anandtech members help others that have brought me on the verge of tears. It makes me utterly proud to be a member here, and you WILL get through this. Your support group is strong and just feel very free to ask for assistance from your friends and family, and from us.

Given the comments on this thread and your other "you guys rule" thread, I can already see that I can rest my case.

Much luck to you and others here who have/had troubles. You guys will be in my thoughts.
