Just saw it this evening myself
Absolute coolest thing! My room mate and I are buying advance tickets for a sunday show (first day we're both free for) at one of the automated ticket sellers, and this guy comes up and asks if we want a pair of tickets for the advanced promo that night We're like "Oh, hell yah!" and grab and go.
I have to say, VERY cool movie. Totally different than the first one. This one is all story driven with only a small amount of fighting -- thought what there is kicks ass. The Bride and Elle Driver's fight in Budd's trailer is excellent! Those two just beat the living sh!t out of each other, wow! Great ending to that one.
We get to see some of the Bride's background (I can't believe her real name, oy ) and her training with the freaky martial artist with the long white beard, as was seen in the original trailer. The final act is all her with Bill, and Carradine does a magnificent job with the role. The final fight between the two of them is very slick, very well done, I just wish it could have been longer than it was.
I certainly hope that rumours of #3 are true
For those that disliked Vol 1, it's hard to say what you'd think of this one. It's more serious (no mass amounts of spurting blood) and WAY more story driven. Heck, it's also far and away Tarantino's tamest and most intellectual movie, lacking a lot of the wit and cynicism found throughout a lot of his other stuff. It tells a hell of a story, no question about that. Just not sure it'd be to the taste of everyone.
In the end, while I didn't like it as much as Vol 1, it is something that has to be seen if you liked the first in any way. It's not like Revolutions was to Reloaded, not a continuation of the same movie, but rather a whole different movie telling the rest of the story.
Good stuff
