Got you beat, I remember getting them for my father for 25 cents a pack out of the machine across the street. Of course this was Virginia where they were always cheap because it was such a large part of the economy back then. I think they were up to around a $1.00 a pack at 7-11 when I quit in 1984. When I was in the Navy they cost $2.00 a carton from the ship's store. We had a ration card so you couldn't buy too many cartons and sell them on shore.

Congresscritters claimed that they were "helping family farmers" when passing tobacco subsidies. With no one left but the big farmers, this excuse rang more hollow than previously.Not sure if that makes sense... if the majority of farmers dropped - essentially only leaving the big dogs I would think lobbying would increase?

I swear to God, I did just that and it was the easiest thing I've ever done. I never craved a smoke, have never considered lighting up again. Several decades ago.I guess its time to quit cold turkey.

You have this major campaign on getting people to stop smoking. The ADs, the taxes, the fact you can't smoke in a bar, etc. But it seems more and more people advocate the legalization of pot. That shit has THC in it! I'd say pot is just as bad for you if not worse than cigarettes. So in the grand scheme of things, if you're going to bitch about us smokers, then you need to cram your pot up your ass.

At least try to cut back. Pay attention, and only smoke when you want a cigarette, not because they're sitting there.Full disclosure. I tried to quite a few weeks ago. Lasted all but two days. I'm on a diet right now so quieting at the same time is next to impossible. Especially given that this diet is like not eating any food at all. Fucking sucks major. It was easy to gain weight, but its absolute HELL to lose it.
