I just stopped a Pit Bull attack . . .

i don't know if pits are aggresive by nature but i think it has more to do with owner conditioning, no? I think just about any dog can be "trained" to be viscious or feral.

you should see some of the dogs that animal control has to deal with. We are in the process of possibly working on a new humane society building here, so we've taken tours of a couple of others in the area. Some of these dogs are insane. They will jump over 8 foot kennel walls, so they have to put tops on the cages. Some have also chewed through chain link, so they have special concrete and steel bar cages for the worst ones. They sedate alot of the animals constantly, and even after drugs, they still carry on non-stop.

no...dogs with rabies are considered rabid. These are mostly animals that have been seized for either biting someone or in dogfights. They must be kept as evidence until any legal issues are resolved before being out down. They often have to keep them for over a year.

My wife was explaining what happened to a friend of hers who lives near us and she checked out the local Elk Grove website to see if there was any information about the dogs today.

It turns out that there was a lady complaining about barking dogs, pit bulls, to her neighbor. She got onto the website and complained as well, I guess trying to see if someone else would complain with her to the animal control. She told the owner of the dogs that if he didn't keep them quite she was going to call animal control every fifteen minutes until they arrived.

In any case, the lady updated her post on the Elk Grove website saying that she no longer heard the dogs after 10:00 am this morning.


I think this is a definite lead as to who is the owner of these dogs. :thumbsup:

Also, I think Pit Bulls do get a bad reputation as a vicious animal / dog.

German Shepards, RottWeilers, Dobermans... all of those "vicious" dogs tend to get trained to be that way, by some asshat owner who gets their rocks off abusing the animal.

I think the bad part is that there necks/jaws are so powerful, that when they do get mistreated and turn into man-eating machines, they can do more damage than the other dogs listed.

FWIW, I've never owned a Pit Bull - but my uncle had a German Shepard that was a scary and mean SOB. I hated that dog.
