It seems to be "the thing" to mention it on these boards whenever it is watched, so just thought I'd do just that. :sneaky:

It was actually quite epic tbh.

Yeah I saw you at the Theater.

Great movie...though the cliche 'big bad army men want to destroy land for money' story is kinda lame. Buuuut, great movie overall. Best movie of the year I think, but I don't like/see many movies.

I just saw it last night also, thought was a pretty good movie, yeah the story with the 'big bad army men want to destroy land for money' was kind of annoying but I got over it and enjoyed it a lot. It is funny because in like the first 5 minutes I had to look away from the screen made m feel disoriented at first but got used to it very quickly. CGI was unreal

I'm seeing it tomorrow afternoon, in imax 3d. I have never seen a 3d movie (unless michael jackson @ disneyland counts) so I'm not sure what to expect. I almost never desire to see a movie in a theater but i'll take the wife tomorrow.

Very good movie, but they needed a new commander for the mercenaries. He kept making so many illogical decisions. Hell, a typical ATOT armchair tactician could do a better job leading them in their campaign to destroy the natives' holy ground.

Also, do the natives really think that it is over? My guess is that the corporation and mercenaries return with neutron bombs.

The movie was:

1. very predictable

2. An Native American/Indians vs Cowboys movie in disguise.

6.5/10 on that.

The graphics/visuals on the other hand were great.

i guess so. cliffs?

Some guy was saying that he didn't like the movie cus it shows the American Military losing. It wasn't American Military in the movie at all or even any Military. He was also saying it's ok to kick people out of where they live to take the resources. He also said that anyone that's given an unlawful order and doesn't obey it needs to be shot even though you're not to follow an unlawful order. There were many military people that commented in the thread and shot down everything he said.

I just saw Avatar today, and it is a great movie. Good balance of story and action, best of 2009. When the man was held in the woman's arms at the end it was quite funny, because I believe they scale her down just so he wouldn't look like a man baby.

That was not the main reason I did not like the movie. I said I did not like it because the soldiers in the movie KILLED THEIR COMRADES/fellow soldiers.

They may have said that mercenaries were present, but when you are wearing AMERICAN Marine uniforms, using ranks that only the American marines use, using a very similar structure and change of command, even if something isn't blatantly said, it is pretty obvious. For you to disagree with that would be to like say the animals in Animal Farm were not anything bigger and were just animals messing around.

I did say it was morally acceptable to kick 100 aliens (nonhuman) out of their home to solve what James Cameron describes as a "worldwide energy crisis on Earth". 100 aliens to move for 10 billion human lives = acceptable, yes.

No military people shot down anything I said at all. Everyone basically said the same thing and then no one replied to anything after that. Probably just means they released they were wrong.

One of the main things people ignored: even if you are an "EX"-Marine, you still follow the military guidelines. Those guidelines state many things that you are not allowed to do including: supplying the enemy with weapons/intelligence and also SHOOTING YOUR OWN PEOPLE. This applies if you are current or RETIRED military.

Another main thing people ignored completely: IF YOU ARE GIVEN AN UNLAWFUL ORDER IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO NOT OBEY IT, BUT YOU ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO MURDER YOUR COMMANDER. He is still your commander - don't do what he wants you to do, but don't mutinize your country. (assuming the orders were unlawful which they were not)

Any military men want to shoot me down? Please. Thanks.

i think he's another douche that couldn't tell the difference between hired mercs and actual us soldiers. even if they are us soldiers, it's a fucking movie...

Who gives a fuck if its "just a movie"? If I drew really realistic pictures of your mom getting murdered, you would feel disturbed watching it.

lol @ your gayass attempt to be "patriotic" and full of "valor" as if you're some kind of upstanding soldier wannabe.

go fuck yourself, kid. even if it WAS american soldiers getting the shit kicked out of them by indigenous people, big frigging deal. america was built on a foundation of dissension in the name of justice and freedom. that was america's prime directive, so to speak. when some money-hungry general is barking orders to violate what america stands for, he is wrong.

i'm glad that marine got his ass put in check. i wish someone would have put cheney and rumsfeld's asses in check... then a lot of these bullshit things that soil our country's good name wouldn't have happened.

it's a movie ok? a sci-fi/fanasy movie at that. do you believe/take offense to everything you see on tv?

I did say it was morally acceptable to kick 100 aliens (nonhuman) out of their home to solve what James Cameron describes as a "worldwide energy crisis on Earth". 100 aliens to move for 10 billion human lives = acceptable, yes.
only 100 aliens right? like there were only 100 non-us citizen american indians? only 100 non-us citizen vienamese? only 100 non-us citizen middle easterns? ok buddy, i guess we're still in fantasy land.

I am a soldier in the U.S. Army, so I don't know what I am "wannabe"ing.
The American soldiers did not get their asses kicked by the indigenous people. They "lost" to another American solider that betrayed his country whom led the indigenous people and single-handedly won the battle.
You said "even if it was American soldiers" and then talked about a money-hungry general. That is just a contradiction.
The soldiers were there to get "unobtainium" to (as James Cameron describes it) "SOLVE A WORLDWIDE ENERGY CRISIS ON EARTH". If there was some profit for some organization, who the fuck cares? We aren't a communist society - companies like Boeing/Smith & Wesson or any of the other hundreds of companies with military contracts make money by providing a service. Weren't we just talking about America's foundation? Sounds like it to me.

You just said you are glad a law-abiding and moral person (and Marine) got murdered. You are a(n unpatriotic) fuck.

You are worrying about our country's name being ruined? What about basically kissing a hostile foreign leader's feet? Let's not get this political (for this century), though - we are talking about the movie, after all.

And a note to readers: I mentioned 2 main things that always get ignored in my first post. He ignored both of them. Figures lol.

EDIT:
masterxfob, you are a brilliant debater! I really do not know how to reply to "who gives a fuck" or "are you a baby that cries at everything on TV".
Maybe I need a history lesson, but I don't remember any resource in Vietnam that was needed to solve a worldwide energy crisis. I also do not remember us simply wanting 100 Vietnam soldiers to relocate? Are you also saying that you found what we did in Vietnam unlawful? You are? So, it would have been ok for an American soldier during Vietnam to get a nuke and drop it on America? What? Why not? I thought it was OK to murder your fellow soldiers to stop an injustice?
