Um.......It wasn't bad...But really? All that commotion? I liked Batman Begins better. The stupid effect they put on CHristian Baile's voice whenever he was wearing the bat suit was ridiculous. I'm not saying it was awful....but I mean....I'm confused, why is this one of the best movies ever?? Are there really that many repressed losers out there who identify with the ideals of batman that they see themselves enacting that life for themselves if only given the chance, that their undying praise of this movie drowns out those that say 'wait...that's it??'

Oh, and Heath Ledger's performance was average. I'm sorry, but if he was alive today no one would be making that big of a deal of it. I keep hearing about how it was such a dark performance that it drove him back to using pills.....um.....it wasn't THAT dark. I mean he had a few moments, but other than that...

Overall a movie with average amounts of action, average acting performances, below average character depth....and that's about it.

oh, and I kept hearing about how they set it up for a 3rd movie? How so? Does the joker get away?

and maybe my DVD was defective, but after Dent pretends to be batman and the joker tries to kill him, he gets in a car and says 'i have a very upset girlfriend to tend to' or whatever....and then all of a sudden next scene everyone is acting like he's been captured. Did they skip a scene or something?!?!

Did you see 3 movies all year? I mean usually even if I don't like the movie or genre it's in I can usually appreciate how someone else could enjoy it. This was like a movie that replaces plot content with explosions...except there weren't many explosions...and next to no plot

Sounds like you either didn't watch it, you went in thinking it'd be horrible, or you have absolutely no taste in movies.

My girlfriend who thinks the Lion King is too violent and scary loved this movie.

Glad I'm not the only one. Watched this for the first time this week, and thought it was overrated.

I agree with the OP. Ledger only got all the rave reviews because he died. Jack Nicholson's Joker is still the standard, and it isn't even close.

All the new Batman movies are just....okay. To me. Fine if others like them, but I don't see how they're all that great.

They didn't skip a scene, a corrupt cop was his driver and captured him. Did you actually watch the movie?

Health Ledger is just the latest bandwagon to hop on. It is just like Cash, when he died I have never seen so many phonies come out

One of the best movies this year, IMO. One of the best ever? Hardly. Decent flick overall.

Granted, a good number of people raved about the movie because they were on the HL bandwagon. I, however, was not one of them. I honestly thought that his acting in TDK was excellent, and that he played the Joker extremely well.

Are you portraying an asshole character that you made up for the Internet, or are you like this in real life?

He's supposed to sound like that. The movie QA team and sound FX teams listened to everything a hundred thousands times before they finalized.
In the reality of living in Gotham, Bruce Wayne struggles to keep up with trying to live multiple lives, being a single man into his 30's who in modern society usually has a family up and running; has to live with his parents having died and still being a billionaire, so he grew up by himself and his best friend, Alfred; and lives as an outcast from the League of Shadows and 'still' tries to hold/live the image of a night-fighting warrior, the Batman.
People in Gotham don't care how people sound, it's the title that they live by. Every character in both movies have some kind of accent and delicate Western style of the way they talk. It's supposed to indicate character, for indivituals who have character, have enemies. Character is respect in various perspective, a weave of ingredients to someone's personality, fused together for a final-immediate image, you got people who like and dislike you for who you are, no matter what.
Opinion, basis of this second film, has more hard driven evidence in seeing the choices people make based on compound matters that lead up to how the 'classes' view them regardless of good or bad decisions; it's all part of the paradigm to conform and how far certain indivituals will break out of their comfort bubble to make a difference in the world.

Join the Marines and stay on active duty for several years.
Find a girlfriend you really love and live life like you don't have time for her anymore, you'll miss her eventually.
Make a lot of money; then try living broke or poor for as long as you can.
Then try to save the community from criminals who comprimise the government.
There's your Batman life, kid.

I saw it in IMAX so I am clearly bias to due its awesomeness.
I remember uttering "holy shit" in the presence of a minor many times and kind of don't regret it.
The visuals were fuckign amazing.
The bank scene was fucking righteously entertaining

I agree on all counts. I saw in IMAX at midnight... definitely worth the $10.

I agree that Batman Begins was much better. Dark Knight felt rushed but it had an interesting plot - lots of mind games from the Joker.
