i don't know how anyone can legitimately say it was a bad movie

overrated? sure. everyone has expectations. but the movie's flaws are few and far between (mostly technological unrealisticness, but pretty standard for comic books), while its successes are numerous (cinematography, music, casting, story etc.)

Overrated? Depends on your perspective.
Excellent? Again, depends on your perspective.

My perspective is that I loved it at the theater, and I loved seeing it again on BD. I regret that I wasn't able to see it in IMAX.

I remember uttering "holy shit" in the presence of a minor many times and kind of don't regret it.
The visuals were fuckign amazing.
The bank scene was fucking righteously entertaining

I agree on all counts. I saw in IMAX at midnight... definitely worth the $10.

I took a child friend and spent a lot more

FUck yeah it was worth it...

in the parking lot heading towards my car we were hilarious..

"OMG remember the..OMG..SO AWESOME!"
"DUde..what about the...OMG SO FUCKIGN AWESOME
*high fives*

<--had seen only "educational" material in IMAX prior to this.
<--clearly enjoyed the transition into viewing crude violence, adult language and penmanship on such a mosnter

It's ok, shhhh. There there. Time for bed.

I bought the BD version thi week, but only watched the digital copy cause I wanted to browse and watch. Unfortunately, this copy was very soft (not loud) so I had to jack up my amp.

It was good alright. Although I'm currently thinking that 'Begins' was better. To be fair though, I didn't give my full attention when watching 'Begins' the first time, so kinda thought it sucked. It grew on me afterwards. I'm hoping and guessing Dark Knight will do the same.

Spoilers

Holy shit, they killed off Rachel? I didn't believe it and kept waiting for the classic "she wasn't there, she's safe elsewhere" card to be played. That probably detracted from my experience. And holy body count Batman.

All the new Batman movies are just....okay. To me. Fine if others like them, but I don't see how they're all that great.

Actually no. He deserves all the rave reviews despite his death. Seriously.

Are you kidding me? That was easily one of the best movies of this year.

Did you see 3 movies all year? I mean usually even if I don't like the movie or genre it's in I can usually appreciate how someone else could enjoy it. This was like a movie that replaces plot content with explosions...except there weren't many explosions...and next to no plot

Name three movies that were better than Batman this year.

I am asking because I am curious as to what movies you liked.

Movie was good but it was in no way the best movie ever.

Bale did not deliver in his performance, which sucks, cause I am a big fan of most of his movies

Ledgers performance was very good though, very very good, best part of the movie.... the movie would have been much better if he had more screen time in fact

How about "YOU" name 3 movies that were better than Bat Man this year?

I'm not coming to this guy's rescue, it's just that everyone has an opinion and most of you have half a brain to understand this!

Oh, I bet you thought Twilight was good because your girl dragged you to see it?!?

This is the crucial question.

I really don't care if you liked it or not but to say it has no plot....well did you seriously watch this movie? It was so much more than explosions and gun shots.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Burn After Reading, Pineapple Express, Gone Baby Gone, In the Valley of Elah, and probably my favorite of the year No Country for Old Men.

Gone Baby Gone and No Country for Old Men are both from last year. I really liked Gone Baby Gone - definitely deserves a wider audience.

Wanna know how I got these scars?
My father was a drinker and a fiend. He'd beat mommy right in front of me. One night he goes off crazier than usual, mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that. Not. One. Bit. So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. Turns to me and says 'why so serious?' Comes at me with the knife - 'why so serious?' Sticks the blade in my mouth- 'Let's put a smile on that face' and...

Why so serious?

I still liked them better Seriously though, I thought Batman was just ok and wouldn't add it to my DVD collection with the likes of:

Seven
Million Dollar Baby
Forrest Gump
Shawshank Redemption
Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels
Good Will Hunting
Rain Man
etc..

These are the movies that in my "holy shit that was good" category. Not Dark Knight...

Now, our organization is small, but we've got a lot of potential for aggressive expansion... so which of you fine gentlemen would like to join our team?
Only one slot open right now - so we're going to have try-outs.

Make it fast.

You are obviously not epic enough to contain the awesomeness that is the dark night. please remove yourself from existence as you will only breed inept beings.

The movie had some flaws, particularly with Bale, but the script was wonderfully dark, and Ledger's performance (alive or not) was fscking brilliant as they come (Nicholson be damned).
Frankly, I wouldn't call it the best movie ever, but to not acknowledge it for the fine piece of art that it is IMO is to show that you have no taste in movies. More to the point, it was an absolutely wonderful representation of Miller 'Dark Knight' era Batman.

Do you wanna know why I use a knife? Guns are too quick. You can't savor all the little emotions. You see, in their last moments, people show you who they really are. So, in a way, I know your friends better than you ever did. Would you like to know which of them were cowards?
