Are there really that many repressed losers out there who identify with the ideals of batman that they see themselves enacting that life for themselves if only given the chance, that their undying praise of this movie drowns out those that say 'wait...that's it??'

Oh, and Heath Ledger's performance was average. I'm sorry, but if he was alive today no one would be making that big of a deal of it. I keep hearing about how it was such a dark performance that it drove him back to using pills.....um.....it wasn't THAT dark. I mean he had a few moments, but other than that...

Overall a movie with average amounts of action, average acting performances, below average character depth....and that's about it.

I couldn't agree more. Good movie, but definitely not worth all the hype. All he does is growl through the whole movie.

I liked the first batmans better.

The way they tied it all together at the end with the whole "Dark Knight" theme was the product of a well thought out and wonderful script. Quite frankly I haven't seen a Batman movie come close to the depth that this one had.

Forrest Gump was brilliant, TDK was entertaining.

I couldn't stop laughing at a lot of the "action" scens in TDK, so corny. And the story wasn't really that deep at all, it was actually pretty simple. I guess the acting was good, but I found Batman and Harvey to be annoying.

Comic book. Batman is a comic book. Most people believe that, when making a movie based on a comic book, the movie should actually be like the comic book. Have that comic book look and feel and all that.
Now, over the decades, there have been many different interpretations of the Batman. That interpretation of Batman which Nolan channels is the 'Dark Knight' re-imagining created by comic book genius Frank Miller in 1980's, and he does an absolutely brilliant job at it.

LOL yeah that happened to me and my gf too. Half the action scenes were just corny/goofy. The first few times he spoke as batman it cracked me up. The effect on his voice was NOT that strong in Batman Begins

My only real complaint with the movie was it was too long and it felt it too.

I've seen it 3 times and each time around the 2 hour mark I was wishing it would end.

Uh, no fucking shit? Still doesn't mean that I thought it was one of the best movies ever though. In my opinion Michael Keaton was a way better Batman, Jack Nicholson was a slightly better Joker. But I didn't find any of the Batman movies to be "epic" in there goodness.

And I realize that I have to suspend my belief for a fictional story, but there were still A LOT of corny scenes. I loved the X-Men movies and only had a few issues of unbelievability in a fictional world. I had maybe 1-2 issues during the 12 hours of lord of the rings.

And I really don't give a shit about what you thought about the movie. I'm not bashing your opinions. All the TDK fanboys are the ones bashing opinions. To each his own.

It met my expectations. It was really cheesy, but so was Batman Begins. The whole first half of that was like one long movie trailer. Meh.

Too much hype will always skew someone's objective opinion of a subject. I heard all the hype, watched it and still came away enjoying the movie. I felt that it was perhaps an hour too long and that the Harvey Dent storyline kind of dragged the movie on and maybe should have been saved for a future movie, but all in all, it was a solid 4 star movie.

Agreed on Nicholson, idk about Keaton but I'd agree Bale doesnt' blow him out of the water as Batman.

Now, what I find interesting is that you found TDK to have "a lot" of corny scenes but you only saw 1-2 in the entire LotR series? Come on. Talk about overrated movies, I thought all three were pretty big snoozefests, except for the Helms Deep battle scene in #2 (which itself had it's share of corny/ridiculous scenes).

That being said I agree with your movies that you liked better than TDK, save for Se7en.

I liked it, just not better than TDK. Then again I haven't seen it in 5+ years.

Granted, a good number of people raved about the movie because they were on the HL bandwagon. I, however, was not one of them. I honestly thought that his acting in TDK was excellent, and that he played the Joker extremely well.

I agree. He was mediocre at best in most of his other films, this one he gave a great performance. Dead or not, he did very well as the joker. Personally, I believe it was better than the Jack Nicholson performance, and I have never been on a Heath Ledger Bandwagon.

Well, that is the beauty of art and entertainment. We can all have our likes and dislikes. I don't fault people for loving TDK. I just laugh when people get all upset when someone didn't love it.

I think the movie was great. The Dark Knight was extremely well thought out and executed. I don't agree with the OP yet I dont think he is a troll.

You should keep running around calling everyone who doesn't agree with you a troll. Let me know how that works for you.

Seven >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TDK

I liked Dark Knight, a lot, don't get me wrong, but it is in no way on the same level at Seven

and maybe my DVD was defective, but after Dent pretends to be batman and the joker tries to kill him, he gets in a car and says 'i have a very upset girlfriend to tend to' or whatever....and then all of a sudden next scene everyone is acting like he's been captured. Did they skip a scene or something?!?!

Harvey dent is Two-Face, another Batman villain.

He was better in Brokeback. He was great in TDK, Nicholson was great for his version.

You can't compare the two as these were different Jokers completely. Ledger's wasn't even Napier. That entire storyline seemed to be axed under Nolan.

Both played each interpretation of the Joker quite well. Ledger was not Oscar material. Doesn't mean he won't get one, though...

Wall-E, Vickie Christina Barcelona, shit...what else did I see this year?

I was not excited by The Dark Knight. I am of the mentality that sequels usually suck. I didn't think Ledger could possibly pull of Joker the way he should be done. I feared that adding Two-Face into a movie alongside the Joker would fall victim to villian clutter. I thought changing actressed for Rachel would be a mistake.

After I left the movie I had absolutely nothing to complain about. There will never be a better rendition of a comic villian than the way the Heath Ledger did Joker. This has nothing to do with his death either. He NAILED Joker. Jack Nicholson's Joker was ... lame really. Ledger's was a villian that was someone to truly fear because he was just so chaotic and at the same time brilliant. Harvey Dent and Two-Face were portrayed in a better way than I ever could have imagined. Bale is by far the best rendition of Batman in live action. He might not have nailed it quite perfectly, but he was 50 times better than any of his predecessors. I think I may have liked Bale's performance a little better in the first one, but it's kinda a toss up. The directing job on this was phenominal and he deserves an oscar for that.

Iron Man, while good, was not as good as The Dark Knight. Iron Man may have been the second best movie of the year.

Are you kidding me? That was easily one of the best movies of this year.

Did you see 3 movies all year? I mean usually even if I don't like the movie or genre it's in I can usually appreciate how someone else could enjoy it. This was like a movie that replaces plot content with explosions...except there weren't many explosions...and next to no plot

Name three movies that were better than Batman this year.

I am asking because I am curious as to what movies you liked.

How about "YOU" name 3 movies that were better than Bat Man this year?

I'm not coming to this guy's rescue, it's just that everyone has an opinion and most of you have half a brain to understand this!

Oh, I bet you thought Twilight was good because your girl dragged you to see it?!?

Calm down Chauncy, I dont think it was the best movie at all. I wanted to know what movies the OP likes, he doesnt need an idiot like you to help defend himself.

As for my opinion, its along the lines of what tallbill said a few posts up.

Another asshat with an opinion, what's new?
Well, name 3 movies that you've seen that were better than Batman..........

Saw it tonight and thought it was pretty good. Not great but good. In regards to the Joker, I thought Ledger was alright but nothing special.
