I enjoyed the movie much more than I thought I would. I was expecting another stupid alien action flick but was pleasently surprised w/something that had a bit of depth to it.

If I lived on a farm in the middle of nowhere like Mel Gibson's character in the movie Signs, and found out aliens were landing on earth, I would probably drive to the big city and hide in a office tower or something. I certainly wouldn't attempt to hide on tiny farm in a location that aliens have already been aware of. That's just plain stupid.
In the event of a big crisis like alien invasion, war, natural disaster, etc., the last place you want to be is in a big city. Because you'll have to deal with the crisis, plus the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of other freaked out, panicing people around you (and depending on what's going on you might also have to deal w/giant buildings falling around you).

I highly doubt anyone would stay at a location where aliens are already known to have been, or still reside at. This was the case with Mel Gibson's character's farm. Makes no sense that they would stay there in that tiny house when he saw the aliens roaming in the crops less than 30 yards away. And statistically, you have a better chance living being in large numbers. It's just a matter where you decide to mount your defence, or simply hide.

That guy rules so much. I like his Hollywood: still out of ideas? How about another black-guy-meets-white-guy comedy? comic too.Originally posted by: PipBoy

I've posted that link in three different Signs threads here. I'm glad it's in this one too.

That's pretty funny. But it's a simplification that doesn't capture the movie as a whole.

I saw Signs without seeing more than one or two trailers, so I didn't really know what to expect when I saw it. I really like the movie and even more after I saw it again later. I think the reason why most people hate the movie is because the previews made it out to be a standard alien movie, which it wasn't. It was about one man questioning his faith when bad things around him were happening. You don't see anyone die or get hurt, even though Mel Gibson is the lead role. Although a couple of dogs die but that's a little different. I actually thought the ending was very good. The way every litlle detail fit together to restore one man's faith was amazing. The second time you even see more little details that fit perfectly. I'll admit the aliens weakness was unrealistic because there is a lot of water vapor in the air. However, I can overlook that because most alien/space movies aren't even close to science. Honestly, if you want to see an action movie where the aliens get blown up like the typical alien movie and not the struggles of one family, this movie isn't for you. However, if you want to see a different kind of alien movie, you might like this.
Signs was made for people who love going around telling people, "Nah man, you just don't get it!"Originally posted by: flavio
Look there was this little part of the movie where there was an issue involving aliens. Maybe you missed it though. Anyway, this little part was so stupid and unbelieveble that it makes a lot of people angry. This in turn completely takes you out of the movie and makes you care much less about the extremely cheesy "questioning his faith" thing.

I really liked it, it didn't sell out to be a another big mindless alien action movie, instead it carried a strong story and message.

Bull $hit. Signs is a very good, orginal movie.
This movie had plot holes the size of the universe!!!!!! I mean aliens that have masterd intergalactic travel but exhibit the inteligence of a reptile? It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever!
Sorry, but I don't see any plot holes. How do we know how a alien race acts? Maybe these guys were just the "worker" drones. Maybe the aliens that actually went house to house and collected humans were our equivalent to dogs? or maybe they were just slaves to the master alien race. The master race who did not give a crap how many of their slaves were killed or left behind. When people say the movie wasn't about aliens this is what they mean. The movie isn't centered around them, it's centered around Mel Gibson's family. Man, some people have no imagination...... go back and watch "The Fast And The Furious" for the 10th time. At least when you watch that you don't need to use your brain.
