I keep losing my DSL connection

Ok, I'm getting some help from a transmission engineer for ADSL support. After a fair amount of info swapping, he said he is sure the problem is not in my loop (from my modem to the DSLAM). He stated "The problem is the VPI VCI pipe is collapsing". Anyone know what this means. anyways, the good news is he's going to get people to start figuring it out. The bad news is he probably can't get any help 'til Monday (Damn holiday weekends :|).
Thanks again for the link Curly. I would have been screwed without it as he said that the helpdesk cannot help with this kind of problem.

Well someone replied that they were having the exact same problems, and it also started about a week ago. Come to find out, they live just a few miles from me. That tells me that it's definitely a line problem in the area.

Your welcome. It simply amazes me the length that the people at dslreports go through to help someone. While some of them are on a companies payroll, most aren't and volunteer their time.

Glad they are making some headway.

This is probably not your issue, but since you have exhausted numerous technical avenues... perhaps it is something much simpler... ie... you don't have any P2P software (Kazaa, Ares) running do you? I notice sometimes when using Ares, my internet & email won't work, and I usually have to do a reboot for it to kick back on again. Just a suggestion, cuz... "ya never know" ....... Good luck

No, this is a new problem and I didn't add any software or run any new programs within a couple of weeks at least before it started. I'm personally convinced that it a problem with the line before it get to my NID.

I'm also amazed. I'm not sure if the guy helping me is getting paid to watch that site, but either way I'm very impressed. I'm going to call Bellsouth tech support and see if they can start giving out that site as a troubleshooting help item. More people should know about it.
