If you have BB, Bb, or bB then you get brown eyes. You only get blue with bb. That's why brown is more common and in fact the reason why blue eyes are being bred out of existance.

I don't agree that it's being bred out of existence, at least as quick as you try to make it sound. As long as the 'b' allele is getting passed on, it's not being bred out of existence, just not shown as much. There's a difference.

your eyes don't look green.

green eyes are very rare, and actually a result of a mutation of the recessive "blue eye" gene.

Maybe I am wrong in my assumption, but I thought the dominant allele had a higher chance of being passed on as well. I'm by no means an expert but I've heard quite a few times in different places that the blue eyed and blond haired traits are slowly breeding out of the human genetic code. Not that it'll happen in even the next few centuries. We're talking probably over tens of thousands of years.

My eyes are blue, as are those of everyone in my immediate family (5 of us). I'm also really attracted to blue, and especially green-eyed girls.

OP, are you retarded? No offense, just curious.. Your posts make you seem retarded, so I'm wondering if you are in fact retarded, or just seem retarded.

If you've taken a college bio course, you might recall some luasdfniowe theorem where the allele ratios stay the same if the conditions stay the same. You can somewhat apply it in this manner. You can also just do probability tests to understand when an allele will dissapear, it will under certain circumstances, but won't under others. I forget this exactly as I couldn't be bothered to pay too much attention to bio.

Also: the blue eyed trait appeared some while ago, and has been spreading at a great rate ever since even though it is a recessive trait. In fact it's population proportion has been growing if I remember the article right.

im super picky about the females and features... they have to be green eyed, the girl has to be super thin but still curvy, and dark haired... very very rare exceptions can be made... but it's almost always a deal breaker for me if they dont fit my qualifications...

maybe im shallow..

You could be right, but I think each allele has a 50% chance of being passed on. Dominant usually only refers to what shows (Brown-blue shows as brown eyes). It doesn't really have much to do with how often it is passed, should be 50/50.

And to touch on what Praxis said about increasing blue eyes in population. I can certainly see that happening, because it can have something to do with sexual attractiveness. They get passed on more because they are more attractive to mates. The more kids by carriers of blue alleles (even 1 in the pair of alleles), the increase in carriers of that allele and increase in chance of b + b combination (blue eyes).
