I love my cat. She's friendly, low maintenance, loves to play. The only problem is I can't get her to sleep on my feet at night, my parents cats always used to do that.
Sprinkle catnip on your toes.

Mine does that, however if i move my foot under the covers he will not hesitate to attack it.

Only get one that is old enough to be de clawed or already is...de claw all 4's, I really wish I did the back ones with mine.
Prepare to clean up puke/hairballs now and then, so invest in carpet cleaner. Prepare for the cat to ignore you when you don't want it to. Some cats get problems...like we had one that kept peeing or pooping on the couch suddenly, wasn't urine tract infection either, the vet couldn't figure it out other than to say he must be stressed somehow, a year later or so he finally stopped, again for no reason.

Only thing I hate the most is how they get cat litter on their feet when they walk out of the catbox and it gets all over the place, no kitty mat works that well cause they like to run or walk swiftly out of there.

Cats are fun, and if you work full time it's better to get one than a dog. I'd hate to leave a dog alone at home all the time since they crave attention more. Especially when I work 12 hour shifts, I think that would just be too hard on a dog. Cats will get kinda annoyed and give you there "where were you?" look but then they're fine. Or they might be sleeping and never notice you were gone lol.

Cats are great. If they like you, it's due to genuine fondness. They aren't genetically programmed to be subservient as dogs are. A dog's loyalty is as remarkable as a bird's use of flight; it's what they do.

go to shelter, pick one that you bond with the most with... but foremost think about it for few days/weeks. Lot of people get rid of pets like they were car or furniture that they don't like anymore.

I don't really agree. With cats, it's about food - dogs may be genetic but it's real. Then again, a lot of guys think money doesn't matter with their wives, easily fooled.

Cats are vile, disgusting, murderous creatures that can be trusted only in the sense that they are not big enough to instantly kill an adult human.

The one that lives in my house is called Mr. Meepers.

There are many unsolved cases while you sleep. And have you seen the statistics on 'accidental' gun shootings in homes with guns laying around?

Cats are nice, until they are not. Trust me. I was the happy owner of two cats for over 10 years. Then my male cat went nuts last year and stated spraying all over my house for no apparent reason. He went from cherished pet to scorned enemy. I love him, but at the same time I kind of want him to pass away or leave. Makes me feel horrible, as I have lots of fond memories of the cat.

See a pet psychiatrist. Barring that, a vet.

Get the heck out of the gene pool.

That's like saying women don't talk about their men's bed prowess.

Edit: Sorry Craig, messed up the post.

What in the world does owning a cat have to do with being girly?

Is this where we get to post pictures of our kitties? :3

I'd get a domestic short haired rescue kitty. They are super friendly, and will follow you around like a dog begging for affection.

I have a Persian as well, but he's kinda anti-social. He spent most of his time hiding under furniture for about a year or so until he finally decided that we were not going to hurt him.

I had a similar experience with my cat. I got her when she was 3 years old, and it took months for her to warm up to me. That might sound frustrating to non cat owners, but the flip side is that when you have their trust, you feel like you really earned something that isn't given lightly.

I love my cat OP. She has just the right mix of wanting attention from me and leaving me alone. She doesn't tear anything up or make messes, and she has never missed the litter box since I've owned her. I highly recommend cat ownership.

Do it, cats are amazing creatures. Go rescue a kitty from your local shelter-do your part to help control domestic animal overpopulation. This is my street rescue, Smokey. She's nearly 2 years old now

She's beautiful.

Thank you! She's such an affectionate sweetheart, I'm really lucky to have her as a companion.
