i knew it was a mistake to install java...

i was surfing some kind of naughty links, and bang, pops up norton saying it found trojan.byteverify, 2x.

i <3 Norton, but my computer has been soiled..

i'm pissed now. never before has my computer ever seen a virus. ever. this pisses me off.

i'm running norton scanner right now. hoping nothing else got on my system.


i knew i shouldnt have installed java. it says it wormed it's way in thru java.


oh, and i was using mozilla firebird then.

i guess this is yet another reason to move to Linux as a primary OS.

i am sure it was installed via a java applet.

norton saw it, and promptly removed it.

EDIT:

the infected file was inside the java folder.

it couldn't have been installed via java. outside 'the sandbox'
that is, unless when a window opened up specifically to ask you for permissions for a java applet to write files to your system, you said 'yes'
