I know we frown on street racing, but some people jsut need to be put in thier place.

Was out driving my car a few minutes ago, testing a few adjustments I made to the motor, and I pulled up at a stoplight next to a V6 99+ mustang. When the light turned green, I started off normally, and the V6 apparently thought I had challenged him (I revved a couple times at the light, was listening to my car though...) and floored the thing like we were racing. I saw him shoot past me, so I floored the car and shot past him before the end of first gear. I hit second and had about 4 or 5 cars on him by 50mph or so. I figured that was good enough so I hit the brakes and resumed driving normally. The other driver hung back behind me like a dog with his tail between his legs.

People just need to be reminded when they're out of their league.

Before you flame me, consider whether you yourself have ever floored your car to test acceleration up to the speed limit. This particular "race" ended at 50mph, 5 over the 45mph speed limit.

My senior prom i borrowed my brother's IROC for the night. Some idiot in a dodge dakota kept speeding up and slowing down...looking over at me and laughing with the guy and girl he had in his car.

I looked over at him while we were doing ~35 waved, and floored it.

He hung back like a dog with his tail between his legs as well.

Bah, a drag race to the speed limit isnt really a race, more of a pissing contest.

I agree. I've done that a few times to idiots in V6's or four-banger's who think they can run with a V8.

That is what I'm talking about. People confuse "street racing" with 0-speed limit acceleration fun. Good kill.

I had a jackass in his daddy's Mustang GT try and take me on as he left his high school prom. Funny thing was, I was on my motorcycle, a Virago 750 no less. Granted, it's not a racing bike, but it's got some get up and go in it. Anyway, he was revving and looking over at me trying to impress his girlfriend. I popped my face shield open, blew her a kiss as the light turned green and tore out like a bat out of hell. He was at least 1 block behind me as I hit the speed limit and backed off. He turned on a side street rather than face up to me at the next red light.

You have be pretty dumb to think you can beat even a moderately fast cycle in a street car.

I'm pretty sure his car is a mid 90's white Mustang GT, with quite a few mods. Pics can be found here

edit After checking the pics, it may be an older Mustang than I had thought.

Heh, that's pretty funny, and it's cool that you didn't act like a moron and go 90 down some city street.

But in general, drag racing is lame. It's all about your car. Real racing is a test of your driving skills, not how much horsepower you have under the hood.

Hehe.

I had a similar experience with a Camaro when I was riding a 550 Suzuki years ago, and a vette when I had my 850 Norton. Silly boys. They also turned off rather than face me afterwards. Nice kill

BTW, notfred, good for you too!

Good for you, notfred!

It's always fun when in my dad's car doing a 0-speed limit sprint, especially when it's a 1966 Ford Anglia 105E with Subaru 1800cc 4x4 running gear, all these people in their Escorts and Fiesta's/Nova's, and to some extent BMW drivers too!!

4WD-Low has nothing on almost everything else my dad's come up against in the off-the-mark sprint...it just grips with all 4 wheels and flies

lol i did a similar thing freshman year of college...

a guy in some old car whose name I can't remember (yes, i was ignorant then ) pulled up next to me at a red light, honked, and as I looked left he revved his engine and pointed to the front. obviously, he wanted a race...

so I was like what the hell...light turned green and I just hit the gas (like I said, I was ignorant then, so I had an auto tranny), and before I knew it we were doing ~60mph and he was a good car length ahead of me, so I gave up and took the exit I had to take anyway

btw, this was a '98 civic lx sedan with no mods whatsoever

Hell, I spotted some idiots in a Mazda MX-3 or a Ford Escort with some stickers on the windshield about 3 car lenghts and 30mph from a stoplight (They got a rolling start through the green, I was at a standstill). Needless to say, as weak as my bike is, I still won

Reminds me of a rice-a-roni Neon I raced not long ago. His muffler was parallel to his bumper (think about it) and it looked ridiculous, it wasn't even an attempt at a side exit setup. Anyways, he shoots me a look like "I can take you", so I let him have it, he gunned it and so did I. Once I blew past him I slowed down to let him catch up, but by this time he was doing well under the speed limit to try to keep his distance from me. He wouldn't even approach me, by the time I gave up on trying to get him to go again *shrug*

the car looked and sounded terrible, the POS deserved to get beat
