Can't. It will make certain bodily fluids sweet, or so I hear. Still prefer arterial blood myself.

I don't generally like mixing sweet and savory, and a pizza should always be savory. I got pissed once cause a pizza shop I tried used a sauce that was sweeter than I like. I could have saved $10 and gotten a pizza from Little Caesar in half the time, and liked it twice as much.

Yo Guido, extra MSG on this one.

edit - I assume we're still talking about pizza.

I agree.

Similar vein: when I worked for Dominos many years ago, the branch where I worked serviced a poor immigrant neighborhood that was mostly Muslim folks. The most popular - by far - toppings combo they'd order was chicken and jalapeΓ±o, (since it's halal and also kinda spicy I guess?)

Since they were the poor immigrant neighborhood, it was also the most frequently abandoned (nobody came to pick it up or there was no answer when we tried to deliver.) So it was also my dinner 4-5 nights a week for a few months. I never got sick of it and it's still my go-to toppings combo 20 years later.

My go to is onion and jalapeΓ±o, but more often than not, I stop at LittleCaesar and get pepperoni cause it's ready to go.

Pineapple on pizza is not my favorite thing but I also realize that the only pizza I’ve had with pineapple was crappy pizza anyway, ie., Dominoes and Papa John’s.

Loads of freshly cut pineapple on a pizza would really help with the digestion and also not clog up the gut like a normal pizza often does. I don't care about taste if I know what I'm eating is good for my body.

Fight me. Give me a reason to not like it.

This is the late Friday night rambling thread.

Now go!
OK, here goes...

I have been making my own pizza for decades, certainly over 500, just a wild guess. In fact, I have a slug of pizza dough I removed from my freezer this morning now stashed in the refrigerator, defrosting. I make my own Italian sauce from home grown tomatoes (and can it, of course).

I usually DO put pineapple on my pizzas. In fact, the first thing I did this morning after making my morning coffee was take the gigantic pineapple I bought at Costco yesterday and carve it up into ~1/2" pieces. I split the resulting 71 ounces of cubes into 4 plastic bags and placed in the freezer. They will almost all go on my weekly pizza, which I make on the weekend.

I told my Manhattan born, bred and still resident cousin a few years ago that I put pineapple on my pizzas and he declared this was wrong. We did not argue, but I have not changed my mind. It adds a dimension to pizza usually lacking, which is sweetness. Of course, there's also the distinct flavor of pineapple. It's the only fruit I put on pizza. I also apply several cheeses, sausage (bought and homemade), black olive, onions, bell pepper, often marinated artichoke hearts.

I have been known to partake of a ham and pineapple pizza. I prefer sausage, green pepper and extra cheese.

It is hard to make a bad pizza. Lord knows that many pizza chains have tried! If you start with a pizza crust and shredded cheese then the truth is you can put just about anything else you want on top of it.

One place near me has Indian pizza; another has Asian "fusion" pizza. It's all good.

The only thing I have yet to see as a pizza topping is fish, but I imagine someone is doing it and that it tastes good. πŸ˜„

I've eaten tuna and seafood pizza. The tuna one wasn't bad but the seafood one never tried again. Seafood just isn't my thing. There's something about Philly Cheese Steak pizza that's just out of the world for my taste buds.
