I figured from the start that this was a topic for a farmed/cultivated spam account that will be sold to spammers or guerrilla marketers.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/01/08/japans-console-and-video-game-sales-hit-24-year-low

http://www.playstationlifestyle.net...chart-playstation-games-dominate-in-software/

Feel free to interpret what you read as you will; however, if you start looking yourself you will find there are numerous sources that say the same thing which is that the Japanese console gaming industry in general isn't as strong as it once was. Currently the Vita is selling much better than the PS4 and it's a simple supply/demand scenario. At the moment, Japanese consumers prefer mobile gaming, ergo mobile devices will see a spike in titles at the expense of traditional consoles.

Note that we are specifically talking about niche titles developed in Japan specifically for the Japanese culture. I'm in no way inferring that the overall ratio of Vita/PS4 sales is as lopsided world wide. The Japanese market simply isn't the dominate force in gaming it once was and shouldn't be seen as a litmus test as to the success of any platform. Even the Japanese aren't embracing the PS4 with the same enthusiasm that they once held with PS1-3. Take away the enormous hardware sales and we find that the PS4 is luke warm at best.

Again, I'm not trying to minimize the impact that the PS4 has worldwide....I'm specifically talking about the Japanese market.

I hope you are right though and I'm willing to reevaluate things once some time has passed.

I'm not sure why you linked those articles, when I already acknowledged that mobile platform sales are stronger in Japan. It was my opening sentence, for crying out loud. 3DS is king over there, and unlike the West, the Vita actually sells some games too. If you're going to look at it closely, PS3 sales were also stronger than PS4 sales a lot over the PS4's first months too. The Japanese market didn't seem as anxious for home console upgrades as the Western market, to put it mildly...

What I was saying though, is that the PS4 sales pace isn't bad at all for a home console in that region, and it's having a fair amount of Japanese content developed for it already, since sales are actually healthy. Total Japanese PS3 sales for the entire console gen was like, what? 10 million? 1.3 million under the time frame the PS4 has been out, is actually pretty good. Probably outpaces PS3 sales, although I had trouble looking up figures on that.

The initial launch was pretty luke-warm, though, because there were simply no games on the PS4 that the Japanese market cared about.

Anyway, though, Japanese titles, was something I considered on my own purchasing decision between an Xbox One and PS4. It wasn't a deciding factor, but definitely a pro on the PS4's side.

Not sure how I got side tracked on this in THIS particular thread though. The OP in this particular thread should probably just buy an Xbox One, since Microsoft can't be relied upon to consistently port Microsoft Published games to PC, and that's what he's interested in playing.

this thread has gone full(er) retard with the numbers now being brought up. clearly a troll thread, the op hasn't even responded since the first day.

Yeah, that SOB, trying to support points with actual evidence!

A little bit of discussion on sales, and hardware usually comes up when looking at gaming platforms. While some people try to pretend these things are irrelevant, I'd say it's not bad to think about things like: "will the developers and publishers that produce the types of games I like, support the system I'm thinking about buying".

Hardware matters as well. If we were going to try to discuss the "Why?" behind some recent games' Xbox One vs PS4 performance differences, we'd have to bring up some numbers there too. GPU shader count numbers, memory bandwidth limitations, etc.

It's kind of funny that people are so allergic to this sorta talk in this area of the forum though, considering that's such a big part of what people talk about on the PC gaming side of the forum.

1. Not much (if any) cheaper at launch on PC.
2. Still can't play console exclusives on PC.
3. Many of us have PCs and are picking a console to go with PC.

Bad argument irrelevant to the discussion. The person said he likes the One exclusives, so telling him game prices for titles he doesn't want are better makes no sense.

I see how you don't mention the quality of the graphics, I'm playing true 1080, and the games look stunning. I Put Tomb Raider on PC and on PS4 and the PC version out did the Sony version in every detail. Picture, texture and sound. I paid £3.70 for PC form G2A and £15 for PS4 from Game. I got the PS4 copy for my daughter.
I'm not to sure of this but the PC are playing Halo Spartans, is it out on any consoles yet, and it's free to play.
I'm sorry if I affended you by telling the truth about the shite you have to put up with with the whole console world. I'm not even going to mention the Christmas trouble, cos that just salt in open wounds.
Happy gaming
Cheers Karl

Sorry bud... Tomb Raider on PC can't do these weather and environmental effects which add a ton to the atmosphere.

Also Halo Spartan Strike is like a mobile game. Are you bragging about that? How pathetic.

Your funny, sorry but just have a look a scan.co.uk and take a look at GPU's. Then realise how silly that remark was,
I'm stuck for words, really.
Never mind if your happy it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks , even if your not right in the head.
Cheers

Look at what? For GPUs? Try making some sense next time. Do you realize I'm running SLI 970s with a overclocked i5 CPU in my PC(it's in my signature line) but I still play some games on console because there are games that are simply better played on a console. Many PC games are bad ports, come way too late, have bugs that make them unplayable, or I may just want to play against my friends on PS4 or XB1.

Troll elsewhere

My post stands. Tomb Raider on PS4 and XB1 has weather and environmental effects that are missing from the PC game and will never be added. That adds a lot to the atmosphere of the game world. I played Tomb Raider at launch on PC. Textures are better but it's missing a lot of updates like that since it's not the definitive edition.

He's actually right about Tomb Raider. The PC version was very similar to the PS3/Xbox360 version, with the hair effects added, and some edge smoothing tessellation, as the 2 main added features. The edge smoothing is actually pretty awesome on the character models, if you have the GPU might to turn it on, but the hair effects were wonky.

PS4 and Xbox One version of Tomb Raider had graphics effects added, such as improved lighting, and featured better hair tessellation. One of the better effects they did was with much improved character skin. You see, skin isn't actually a flat color, it's your peachy skin color over the top of your blood and guts' redish color, right? So to show skin more realistically, you gotta make it multi-layered, with the top layer transparent, but the light to be able to react with the bottom layers. Otherwise it looks like plastic. Also, much better fog and smoke, and stuff like that.

Overall the PC version is graphically inferior to the "Definitive Edition" remake. Which is a little bit upsetting, since PC users were never given an option to upgrade.

Still, with it being so cheap on Steam sales, it's hard to feel bitter about the PC version.

No not troll, just a guy that bought tomb raider for £45 on PS3 then they bring out the DF edition and charge £54 on ps4. Wasn't being funny, I think I was a mug, bought all the tomb raiders paid top cash, then I find out the Microsoft have made a deal so it will only be released on XB1. The Microsoft and Sony don't give a fart about the customer. So you prefer consoles, fine, I think PC is better. The changing factor was the order 1886, got it day of release, steelbox edition, for £50, took 4 1/2 hours to complete to get platinum, went to trade it in and was offered £12. That's when I lost all interest in the console side of gaming. Can you honestly tell me a game that has or is going to cost over £50 on PC. None is the answer. Witcher 3 is only £30 pre order. How much on console.
But you never answered my statement about the days Xbox live and PSN went down on Christmas. And no I don't think it's was funny, cos I was stuck with COD Advanced Warfighter. Thatts the whole reason I will never advise anyone to get a console. Sorry if you don't like my opinion, but it's mine.
I'm not trolling, look at my avatar it's a Goblin.
Cheers

LOL, what a terrible response. How many pixels does the PC push out for Forza? Halo: The Master Chief Collection? Killer Instinct? The guy said he likes the Xbox One exclusives and wants to decide between the two consoles. There isn't any relevance of a multi-platform game's graphics on a PC when the guy is asking about the games and graphics on consoles.

I have a PC. I don't buy many games on it because you can't trade in PC games. I use it for older games I can't get on console. I'm not going to spend $50+ on Dying Light on PC for visuals I can't perceive (and would have to spend hundreds on to see, as I haven't been compelled to upgrade my GPU yet). Instead, I got it on the One, beat it, and traded it in. I ended up with something else to play after.

So, instead of coming in and trolling, making assumptions, and making off-topic arguments, how about you try to have an intelligent conversation related to the actual topic of the thread?

IDK if he's talking about that game or the Russia-only MMO thing, whatever it is.
