Sorry to hear dude.. been through losing a number of pets... never easy.
I'm so attached to my cats now too, its gonna be hard when they're gone. (Always had dogs before)
He seemed fine until last Friday and when we noticed he was acting a little lethargic and distant. It got progressively worse over the weekend, he was panting a lot and was having trouble moving around and eating/drinking. Took him to the vet tuesday, they did blood work, x-rays, etc and said he had a UTI and sent him home with antibiotics. He was worse wensday morning so he went back to the vet around lunch. Around 5pm they called and said he had collapsed and was no longer breathing on his own, his eyes were also fixed and non-reactive. We had him put to sleep a short time later. He was only 10.
