I lost my car keys

It makes no damn sense.

It's simple. They're in the ignition or they're in my pocket except for a rare exception and there wasn't a rare exception since last night.

So I'm looking at paying for a tow (I finally quit premier AAA so only get 5 miles tow and it has to go to the dealer that's further). About to scour for a third or fourth time.

Usually the answer would be 'fell out of my pocket where I sat'. Not so far.

I need to get off my ass and program a key while I can still do it myself. It takes two rfid keys to do it myself(read cheaply). If I lose one, I'll have to get a pro to do it.

Sucks. It's usually a result of some stupid brain fart. One time after my night shift I could not find my keys. Did not make sense. The only possible place for them to be would be at my desk or in my coat pocket but it was neither. Went to my car to look inside, sure enough, they were sitting on the seat. Car locked. FML. Thankfully my parents had a spare set, I gave them one exactly for situations like this or any other emergency situation. My coworker let me take his truck so I drove to my parent's house and managed to get the set.

Totally not something I wanted to deal with after a night shift when I just want to go home and sleep. lol. I now have a spare one on my property, which I should have done from the beginning. I have an alarm system anyway so even if someone found it the alarm will go off if they used it.

But I don't need that, they're always in the ignition or my pocket...

Originally a genitive form of alway, from Middle English allwaye, alle wey, from Old English ealneġ, ealneweġ (“always, perpetually”, literally “all the way”), from ealne + weġ (accusative case), equivalent to al- (“all”) +‎ way, or all +‎ -ways. Cognate with Scots alwayis (“always”), Low German allerwegens (“very often”, literally “all ways'”). More at all, way.

You seem like a thorough type of guy based upon your past posts.

Someone probably stole them or your wife/kids/friend took them and neglected to tell you.

Or a co-worker is pranking you.

What do you drive? Maybe its a subconscious signal telling you that you hate it, and to get rid of it.

You don't have spare keys? I have at least one spare for every key I can possibly use and I know where it is. Usually I have more than one spare key. I keep a complete set of keys in a place that should survive any type of catastrophe including a house fire or major earth quake.

I had a similar thing happen a few months ago when I borrowed a truck at Home Depot ($19 for two hours or something like that). I left my car in their lot and when I got home, in my hurry I inadvertently left my set of keys (with which I opened my door) on the kitchen stove. So, when I returned the truck to HD I lacked my car keys! I could have taken a bus home but instead called my sister who chauffeured me home and back to HD.

Well, here's what I know, and thanks. I drove home last night, so they were in the ignition. Today when I went to drive, they weren't in the car or my pocket. So either I left them in the car, or they're somewhere from the car to where my pocket had been overnight in the house.

I have spent the afternoon and evening partly looking in admittedly a lot of messy things in the car and house, and have not found them.

The one 'conspiracy theory' is that I left them in the car, and overnight someone stole them from the car. But that seems unlikely (easier to steal the car?)

So I've been doing the behind boxed, in seat cushions type of searching. It's pretty amazing, haven't been able to go anywhere today.

Are they on the same ring as the house key that you left in the door?
It's annoying to be digging in my pocket and I can't find the keys that I'm holding in my other hand.

I've done the 'check every inch slowly where they could have been' routine. But who knows what they might have snuck under.

I have found things like a missing spoon and a pair of eyeglasses under the chair it's amazing weren't crushed.

I too have a spare set of car keys in my place. And two people have spare key to my place. So that works out. I did also just start using Tile, just for my keys though. I don't see the use for anything else really at this point.

Do you have a dog? Maybe it ate them. Can you hear a jingling sound when it's running around?
