I don't know much about the Jordan Davis shooting. I thought you were talking about Trayvon.

No. The Trayvon one and the Davis one have both similarities and differences. The biggest difference is that a reasonable person can see, even if they don't agree, why Zimmerman was not in the wrong in his shooting. I may not like how it all happened, but I fully agree that it was legally correct to find Zimmerman not guilty. Anyone who thinks Dunn was anything but wrong or thinks it was right to not find him guilty of murder is not a reasonable person.

I knew Paul Ryan was a terrible person, but goddamn.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) asserted on Thursday that liberals did not understand that kids who got free lunches at school did not have parents who cared about them at home.

Paul Ryan realizes we're all quite aware that the only reason he got anywhere in life is that social security survivors benefits paid for his education, right? The ONLY reason he got anywhere is because of the social safety net that was in place in this country. And he somehow thinks that this same social safety net destroys America now? I guess he's got one thing right. If this social safety net creates people like Paul Ryan, it absolutely will destroy everything good about this country.

Agree entirely. Was perusing Wikipedia about the Jordan Davis story and it seems to me the shooter should get nailed.

But, he's trying to save it.

If there's a location for more thoroughly distilled insanity than CPAC I'm not aware of it. This year's panels include:

"Does the U.S. Congress Matter Anymore? Executive Orders AND the Hopelessness of EVER Curtailing Federal Spending"

Obama changed statutory law yet again delaying the individual mandate until 2 weeks after the next presidential election. Curtailing federal spending? When my kids are parings taxes they will see debt service payments that equal what are defense budget is now.

"IRS Targeting Scandal: Protecting the Voice of the People, Sponsored by Tea Party Patriots"

People were concerned when Nixon was doing the same thing. Now we have criminal activity at the IRS and it is largely ignored and the ones voicing concern are vilified.

"Healthcare After ObamaCare: A Practical Guide for Living When No One Has Insurance and America Runs Out of Doctors (Part 1)"

Just like Medicare now... Too many needs and not enough resources. which there are only two solutions...raise taxes or ration care. Reduced reimbursement rates are creating a situation where doctors lose money on seeing Medicare patients. A large number of doctors will not take new Medicare patients for this reason. A lot of doctors have already expressed frustration with the ACA.

And Hillary thought back in the 90's that having a program like obamacare is ultimately the best way towards having single payer in this country. So the ACA destroying insurance companies is a legitimate concern. The taxpayer bailouts won't be funded forever.

"What's the Deal with Global Warming?"

What is the deal with Al Gore?

"Rocky Mountain High: Does Legalized Pot Mean Society's Going Up In Smoke?"

A legitimate concern. I think it should be legalized myself, but think it is sad that we will have a large segments of the population desiring to be potheads who will be whining about only making $7.25/hour. As legalization happens in more states it is something that should be considered.

"When the Fed Stops Building and the Mint Stops Printing: Rebuilding the American Economy After a Real Crash"

Some bad things (inflation for one) are gonna happen when the Fed ultimately stops Unlimited QE.

Kudos for a least discussing these things instead of going through life with blinders.

I don't know if it was in that forum but my favorite was something that I think happened last year. Where someone in a panel made a comment about how blacks should have been thankful to slave owners for all the free food and housing they were given.

Yeah that was it. They just can't help themselves.

Obama changed statutory law yet again delaying the individual mandate until 2 weeks after the next presidential election. Curtailing federal spending? When my kids are parings taxes they will see debt service payments that equal what are defense budget is now.

Unlikely, and ultimately not that important. Interest rates will not rise until the economy improves, which inherently makes our ability to pay greater debts easier.

People were concerned when Nixon was doing the same thing. Now we have criminal activity at the IRS and it is largely ignored and the ones voicing concern are vilified.

It has 1.) not been shown to be criminal 2.) was not ignored and 3.) people voicing concern are not vilified.

This is not only a gross generalization with little to no factual support, but it has very little to do with the unhinged and frankly insane title of the panel.

And Hillary thought back in the 90's that having a program like obamacare is ultimately the best way towards having single payer in this country. So the ACA destroying insurance companies is a legitimate concern. The taxpayer bailouts won't be funded forever.

This is insane ranting based on nothing.

A legitimate concern. I think it should be legalized myself, but think it is sad that we will have a large segments of the population desiring to be potheads who will be whining about only making $7.25/hour. As legalization happens in more states it is something that should be considered.

This is like something that would happen in that Reefer Madness movie. Do you really believe this?

Some bad things (inflation for one) are gonna happen when the Fed ultimately stops Unlimited QE.

This is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of economics and the Fed. QE is designed to CAUSE inflation, not reduce it. Ending QE leading to inflation is nonsensical.

Kudos for a least discussing these things instead of going through life with blinders.

Your post is unintentionally illuminating. To regular people the titles of these panels are transparently insane. So insane that everyone is laughing at them. Some people apparently take this seriously.

I see the circle jerk is in full session.

This stuff is literal crazy talk and judging by at least one of the replies in this thread some people actually think that CPAC is right on.

This isn't some fringe element, Mitch McConnell and other prominent elected officials show up to this thing where the fundamental ideas being discussed here are quite literally batshit crazy.

Yeah that was it. They just can't help themselves.

The best part of that was the forum it happened in was all about how liberals always played the race card and how conservatives weren't really racist.
