I don't understand why people grill chicken breasts. Thighs are cheaper and much juicier.

I also recently discovered plank grilled salmon. So easy yet so delicious!

Cleaned out my old BBQ from the winter grilling season and started to notice that a number of my ceramic flame tamers have started to disintegrate. Not bad considering I bought them 5 years ago. But the grill I have (Bakers & Chefs Y0655) is definitely showing signs of aging. I've replaced the burners on it twice and the porcelain grates I replaced with cast iron ones once the porcelain flaked off.

So after talking it over with the wife this weekend we are in the market for another gas grill. We're probably going to go with one that can be converted to natural gas and have a pipe run out to it. What limited research I've done has me wondering about the Char-Broil Tru-Infrared series. Have you known anyone who has bought these grills? Are they really easy for clean up? How often do they use the side burner? Because we haven't had one on the Bakers & Chefs grill I doubt I can see a use for using the side burner on a new grill.

The best part about grilling in the winter is you can just throw a few beers around the grill. When you finish what you're drinking, a little bit of digging is all that stands between you and a fresh, ice-cold replacement.

It is a little strange how a beer straight out of the fridge can taste warm when it's really cold out, though.

One year i cleared off the driveway. At the start i put 3 beers in a drift near the side of the garage. i cleared it off and had 2 and went inside.

about an hour latter i came out to grill some burgers and went to shove a beer in the drift and found the one. i drank it while cooking and fuck it was cold (not frozen either!)

I'm really looking forward to this spring/summer/fall because we're getting a deck built on our house soon and daddy is buying a smoker.

Death by excessive meat ingestion soon to follow.

Moving in a couple of weeks and buying a new Weber Genesis S-330 with NG hookup. Really looking forward to grilling as much as humanly possible.

I live up north and I grill or smoke year round. Two days are significant that are days I always BBQ on - the first day we get more than 6" of snow and the first day we go below 0 F. Needless to say neither occurred this year. I keep a Weber and a gas grill (a Huntington that is made of materials that never rust) on the deck and we use the gas at least twice a week and the Weber on the weekends. I make all my own rubs and sauces. Last night I smoked up some chicken using a blend of mesquite, hickory, and apple woods. Yummy!

I still need to buy a BBQ.. It's hard to find a good deal on one when grilling season comes early like this.

Why is there a season for grilling? I would think one could grill almost any time of the year. Do you fall out of love of grilling during certain times?

I appreciate the yard better in the other three seasons, but yeah, it is a year round event here.

Well, most people do when you have a a few feet of snow on the back deck/patio and then the temps drop to below 0F for 2+ months. I don't grill as much then, but then again during the summer I grill just about every day.

You say local... Are you in Marietta?

nope. I'm nearby though. I ate at Williamson Bros and it's ok. I like their sauce but their BBQ isn't anything special. I can make better BBQ at home on my WSM smoker. Publix, Kroger, Whole Foods all carry Williamson Bros sauce so it's easy to buy.

I just finished lighting my Weber charcoal grill. Going to grill some beef short ribs and sweet potatoes.

I love to grill, I really do. I prefer a steak and burgers on the grill to them on a cast iron pan also. I love to cook peppers on the grill and bacon also. I'm a huge fan of grilling.

Lately, however, I've really enjoyed smoking meats. I smoked a chicken, some corned beef, chicken wings, brats, mac and cheese, a turkey, ribs, etc. They all come out so damn good. Nothing like smoking a nice hunk of pork shoulder all day and then pulling it apart for pork shoulder sammiches the next few days.

Made burgers last night and they were tasty with a cold one (Sam Adam's new seasonal). However, I'm in need of a new grill... There's gotta be a good resource or previous thread for that - my forum search came up empty.

Any tips?

True. We keep the grill on the back deck until the first snow is forecast. After that it resides in the carport for winter grilling.

I will be purchasing a smoker this year and I'm stoked about it!

I made some bbq chicken this weekend, delicious. Make sure to brine your chicken before grilling, and also I've decided that I am never buying bbq sauce again. Making it yourself is incredibly easy and taste soooo much better, plus you can mix it up however you like it.

Good stuff.

Share the recipe my good man. I'm still looking for a good BBQ sauce to go with my pulled pork.

I am doing my first big BBQ sometime in April. Ill get the smoker going with some ribs/pork roast and then the grill for some burgers and hotdogs for the people who are crazy and want a burger over my ribs. I love my smoker and cant wait to start using it every other week.

cast iron griddle burger and dogs > gas or charcoal grilled

best burger is made on cast iron pan on a gas stove.

You've never had my cherry smoked swiss/mushroom stuffed burgers.

I've never actually liked using cherry smoke on my meat. I've used it a couple of times on some pork and it was just WAY to sweet for me.

Different strokes and all that.
