Don't you live in Texas? Grilling season is all year round in the South.

I made some bbq chicken this weekend, delicious. Make sure to brine your chicken before grilling, and also I've decided that I am never buying bbq sauce again. Making it yourself is incredibly easy and taste soooo much better, plus you can mix it up however you like it.

Good stuff.

Agreed. I've got my own recipe for Spicy BBQ Sauce, but resorted to the store bought stuff tonight because I didn't have the time to make it.

Making your own bbq sauce is easy but I still like store brands. I like original Sweet Baby Ray's and local Williamson Bros Spicy Chipotle. I always have both when I eat my BBQ and like to mix the two sauces.

I like boobs.
Theres more boobs in the spring.

Negative. There are the same number of boobs in winter, they just aren't being dangled in sight, but just out of reach like some tantalizing fruit. The boobs that matter, that being the ones you actually get to touch, still come out at the right time in winter.

Edit: also, I grill year round. In the spring I just sweat more and feel less comfortable doing it. Yet another activity people have arbitrarily assigned to this beginning of the most horrific time of year.

Bah, now I feel guilty. Full but guilty.

Picked up a pack of strip steaks and did two of them on the gas grill tonight. Chicken breasts were on sale for a tenth of the price but didn't feel like fooling with them.

Switch to charcoal and use lump charcoal. You will be amazed at the difference in flavor.

I agree, I'm in Wisconsin and grill year round as well. I'll dig out a spot in the snow on the back deck and fire it up in the dead on winter. Thankfully, the warm weather got here early this year. In fact, today we hit a record high for the month of March at 83°, and suppose to be 80s again tomorrow. Best Wisconsin winter evar, we're normally lucky to see these temps at the end of May.

In fact, I think I might go buy a couple of V8's from the 60's and run them to contribute as much as I can to global warming if this is what I can expect.

Thats a really good guess. I don't actually live in the swamp though. Summer is murder here and I never look forward to it. I see spring as the end of the season where I can actually stand to do anything outdoors. It seems that everyone else, even many people who live here, would disagree with me. I spend most of the warmer months filled with general hate for everyone who mentions doing anything outside.

same as in the north..

The best part about grilling in the winter is you can just throw a few beers around the grill. When you finish what you're drinking, a little bit of digging is all that stands between you and a fresh, ice-cold replacement.

It is a little strange how a beer straight out of the fridge can taste warm when it's really cold out, though.

Louisiana resident myself and we didn't actually have a winter this year. There were *maybe* 3 cold days.

I have heard that American BBQs and charcoal are inferior to what is used in Japan and that the our product suffers thereby. The secret of Japanese barbecue is the Shichirin grill and binchō-tan charcoal, especially kishū binchō-tan. I was fascinated to see two large mackerels being barbecued on one in a picture. They looked like they just came out of the water.

I have spent a few weeks now investigating wood burning stoves, venturi burners, clay molding techniques, bread ovens, tandoori pots, wok stoves solar ovens rocket stoves, alcohol burners and such like because I want to make something to cook on myself. My BBQ is just too weak and I want 100,000 BTU for my wok. I want wok he.

Made burgers last night and they were tasty with a cold one (Sam Adam's new seasonal). However, I'm in need of a new grill... There's gotta be a good resource or previous thread for that - my forum search came up empty.

Any tips?

Do you prefer propane or wood? I have a Weber gas and an outdoor setup I cobbled together from parts, weeknights I usually wind up using gas. Whatever you choose get something with a quality build from a manufacturer that will be in business if/when you need parts..
