cleaning them is a pain in the ass.

the person who makes a fully automated cleaning system is going to be rich...i'd gladly spend money on something that would save me so much time and hassle.

so all you smart people out there, get working on this!!

Agreed. I find it very relaxing to sit down with a cold drink after a hot day at the range and clean my weaponry.

I don't mind at all, regular cleaning is a breeze.

Degreasing a milsurp semi-auto that is packed in enough cosmoline to preserve a destroyer can be an all day event though.

Yeah its relaxing to clean my shotguns. Gives you a chance to settle down and enjoy the simple design and beauty of it.

I clean my XD after every trip to the range... it's just part of the process.
Shooting the gun is what relaxes me... cleaning it just gives me something to do later in the day when I'm bored.

If we were talking about cleaning trucks after going off roading would that make you feel creeped out as well?

What about washing dishes after cooking with them?

You're one of those dirty hippies aren't you! *sprays lysol*

Way to promote the gun-nut stereotype.

You clean an AK-47 by dragging it through the sand.

Uh. I don't know what you have heard, but AK's need cleaning. A friend of mine in Iraq sees the Iraqi National Guard soldiers' AK's jam all the time because they never clean them.

The AK-47 is a really good rifle but its legendary reliability borders somewhere near myth.

No, not really. But do people find washing dishes/a truck relaxing? I'd like to meet said people and have them come to my house after dinner.

I've never shot a real gun before, but I have shot paintball guns. Its very relaxing to completely strip your gun, and clean every part individually. Very serene and can give you an appreciation of the weapon.

Its better if you've named your gun.

I do not find washing dishes relaxing, but I do find mowing the lawn, cleaning a gun, andcleaning my truck relaxing.

Using a boresnake, CLP, and a narrow toothbrush are about as close as anybody's going to get to 0 maintenance methinks.

If a gun owner attacked your manhood, your manhood would be dead.
