I agree. If you love her, you'll always wonder if you should have gone for it.

Not necessarily. She can always stop smoking.

Only certain types of people would smoke to begin with. I won't have anything to do with those types of people. They're selfish, short sighted and stupid. It's not about the habit, it's about what it represents. And that's not something someone can "quit."

Excuse me? You seem to be more short sighted than any smoker I know. Just because a person smokes doesn't mean that he/she is a bad person, in fact some of the best people I know happen to smoke. They are quite bright and genuinely caring, they get to know people instead of ignorantly passing judgement to feel better about themselves. You are an ass.

Why don't you put that to a vote on these forums and see who comes out on top? In fact, put that to a vote in AMERICA and see who comes out on top. The tides have turned against smokers. They pollute our air, they cost us billions in extra health care costs, they're rude and inconvenient.

Smoking is unacceptable.

As far as I'm concerned what I put in my body is my buisness and whether its rude and inconvient to you doesn't matter. That is what AMERICA (as you so boldly capitalized it) should be about. Just because a vote across this lovely nation might show how far people have come from the princple of government staying of private affairs doesn't mean there is anything wrong with smokers or smoking.

I hope one day I blow a puff of smoke in your face as you drive by in your SUV. We'll see who pollutes more.
yep, you are perpetuating the fact that smokers are nasty people.

good job.

Do you smoke?

Nope, never have. As long as you are not blowing smoke in someone elses face who doesn't like it then you can smoke 10 cartons a day for all I care. This is AMERICA.

Whoa. I strongly disagree. Smoking has nothing to do with selfishness and stupidity. It has alot to more to do with peer pressure at a young age when many people were not mature enough to resist.
I smoked a pack a day for for 10 years. Haven't had a cigarette in 5 months and never will again.

That may have been true a long time ago, but not anymore. We know what smoking does to people now.
No, I think it's still true. I know it was true in my case. Don't judge people.

That pretty much sums it up. You are a typical smoker.

You know, in another 10 years, you won't be allowed to smoke in any building in America? The times are changing quickly now.

And if someone blows smoke in my face, their cigarette gets put out. I've done it about a dozen times in my life. I'll pluck it right out of your mouth and stomp it out on the ground. And since this situation invariably occurs in a line of people, when you decide you want to act like a tough guy, I just loudly say "Does anyone else have a problem with this guy smoking? And all of a sudden I have a whole crowd on my side. And the smoker backs down.

It's not true anymore. Role models no longer smoke. The peer pressure is against smoking. It's a very different time than when we were teenagers.

I haven't smoked in quite awhile, nor am I a nasty person. I am not a bad person because I would respond to someone who would needless put down a very large group of people.

How could anyone with half a brain say that its a "fact" that smokers are nasty people? You are absolutely ignorant. I hope your brainless stereotypes keep you isolated deep within your controlled group of friends so that you never have to see an aspect of the world that differs from what you like to do.

When I started smoking I knew it was unhealthy, but I was an immature kid who did not stand up to peer pressure. When I grew up I was already an addicted smoker.

Just to rub it in a little and to emphasize that this has been the state of man for at LEAST the last 500 years:

132

Thine eyes I love, and they as pitying me,
Knowing thy heart torment me with disdain,
Have put on black, and loving mourners be,
Looking with pretty ruth upon my pain.
And truly not the morning sun of heaven
Better becomes the grey cheeks of the east,
Nor that full star that ushers in the even
Doth half that glory to the sober west
As those two mourning eyes become thy face:
O let it then as well beseem thy heart
To mourn for me since mourning doth thee grace,
And suit thy pity like in every part.
Then will I swear beauty herself is black,
And all they foul that thy complexion lack

well, if the OP is fine with her smoking, I don't see why so many ppl have an issue with it.

Don't you realize that isolation is what we want? Isolation from smokers. And we've succeeded. Look across a restaurant (if your city\state still allows smoking in restaurants) and notice that at a table with a smoker, they're all smoking. Smokers only befriend other smokers. This isn't an absolute, but it's becoming more and more true. Smokers have become the outcasts and lepers. Made to stand out in the cold and rain in order to smoke.

So you see, we're not isolating ourselves into small groups, we're isolating the smokers. And it's working very, very well in the United States.

Sure there was. The point was that you cannot generalize and form an opinion on an entire group of people based on a habbit/addiction that they have.
