My plan is to upgrade to the next category for road racing next year, so I really have to get the extra poundage off if I'm going to be competitive. Not only am I hauling useless weight up hills, but VO2 max is ml of oxygen per minute per kilogram. Less fat = highter aerobic capacity.Originally posted by: cashman
Good for you!
In the past 5 months, I've lost about 25 lbs (from 215 to 190) and just stayed there. I really didn't exercise that much, and only watched my eating occasionally. I'm happy about it, but I could lose another 10 lbs.

WTF?!?! Since when does a reasonable diet and regular exercise result in weight loss?

I'm down 25 lbs since the start of the race season back in March. I'm looking to drop another 20 or so during winter training for next season.
As for what I'm doing, basically I just ride my bike 10-15 hours per week (I'm sure you guys guessed this), and don't eat crap. I also make sure not to stuff myself at any given meal and the weight's coming off at a reasonable pace. I personally find this approach much easier than having to follow some diet du jour.
Yeah, cutting out the beers really helped as well. That was definitely my source of junk calories.Originally posted by: Koing

Nah, just have fewer beers or only have beer one day of the week or something. You might as well not bother if you're going to drink that low-carb pisswater.Originally posted by: new2AMD

I just find it too hard to do so. Maybe Ill try those low cal ones.
You need to come to GA and peruse our newly-legalized high grav beers. I bought a bottle of Chimay just the other day.Pretty soon thats all that will be available anyways.
The thing that really kept me honest was knowing that I had races coming up. I've been much more careful about my diet and hydration this year and it really paid off with race results.Originally posted by: cashman

I bet if I really cut down on beer I could lose that weight. I'm trying to watch what I eat though, but cutting down beer is gonna bother me....
