Jean,

You really should sign up. The biggest benefit to the OEM System Builder program is a $25,000 credit line at 7.5% interest. Comes in very handy for cash flow management when a larger order comes in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I doubt the server software comes with actual production deployment licenses.

You can download Oracle EE DBMS (among other goodies) FREE from Technet, but it doesn't mean you saved $25 G's on licenses. They're only good for development.

And yes, this is not a flame, but SuSE Linux 7.3 Pro (or insert your favorite free *nix) gives you a LOT of equivalent functionality for about $75, with no restrictions on production deployment or client access. Choice is a great thing huh? (This cuts both ways, if you're happy w/ M$, good for you)

I paid a total of $240 CDN for tuition this year (for both semesters)

I'm not in university yet, I'm in CEGEP something that only exists in Quebec, they're post-high-school pre-university institutions

I stand corrected, but 10 client access licenses is sufficient only for the average workgroup environment, or for development (for which it's still a nice offer).

I got the same offer in the mail today, I'm trying to talk myself out of it...

It sure is tempting, though. I could have legal installations of XP Pro + Office XP Pro on every system in my house, set up a system running 2K Adv Server...

God, the possibilities are endless.

for $300 you could have bought a nice, boxed edition of either SuSe, Debian, Caldera or some other Linux distro with good support, a couple good books on Linux and had cash to spare on a couple of nice dinners with your significant other.
Sounds to me like a waste of f!cking money.
Microsoft can rot in hell if such a place exist.

Long live the bird.

You sure as hell aren't kidding about that "No Certs No Education" part.

edit: tried to make less hostile
