Im going to get a 32x drive as soon pretty soon, but i was wondering, does anyone else share my opinion that the 2MB buffer on the Lite-On 24x and 32x drives is a bit on the, well...lame...side ? I mean, at top speed, thats 0.55 (@3.6MB/s) and 0.416 (@4.8MB/s) seconds of buffer for the 24x and 32 respectively...thats crap surely ?
Now i know, everyones gonna say 'but its got burnproof'....still, its too small for my liking. Burnproof isnt just an excuse for them to skimp on the buffer...sure, it may be able to recover via burnproof, but i sure as hell dont want it to be 'burnproofing' unless absolutely neccessary. Even with a 2nd HD that most stuff gets burnt from, i can on occasion, and certainly if i wanted to, make my 4MB buffered 8x Plextor make a coaster. Thats 3.33sec of buffer @1.2MB/s there....i may just be being a little picky, but the 24x Plextor had a 4MB buffer (so id hope for 8 on the 32x...anyone know ? ) and yet Lite-On have left even their 32x at 2MB...the Mistumi/Sanyo ones have up to 16MB FFS...
