There is something about new shoes. They're all shined up, full of asphalt shredding tread. Nice and new and stiff, perfect pressure. Plus you get to "try them out" to see how they feel and sound.

I say there is nothing like it.

sccrrrrrrrreach!

I agree, and yet I'm still weeping. We had to get new tires for both rigs in the last week. God, that gets expensive.

Anyone else that new tires feel more rubbery? When I got new tires on my 240sx, it felt like I was riding on more solid, yet more rubbery and bouncy tires. Then the same with my Jeep.

I can't wait to get new tires, sadly it'll be a few miles still. They have good tread on them but they make me mad. The previous owner put them on, and the car has a little too much power so they tend to squeal if you floor it in first. I much prefer no squealing.

Free tires for as long as we own the Lexus!!!

The Maxima on the other hand cost me almost a grand last time it needed new shoes.

New tires will give you much better traction and a smoother ride than tires that are worn out.

They do take a few hundred miles to really set in so to speak and wear properly.

Your rubbery/bouncy feel is probably pressure related. Your tire pressure is much more important than the actual tire.

But who doesn't love some new shoes! Tire lovin'!

Post best tire you've ever owned and how it felt. For me it was pirelli P-zeros on an M3 back in 1993. Can't remember the size, something like 245/40/17. Treadlife was crap but man did they feel good.

all 205/60/14 H-rated
Dunlop SP Sports A2: very poor thread life, okay otherwise. C-
Falken ST215: Great price. pretty good all around B+
Kumho 712 (or 732): it WAS at a great price, but now they are very expensive. pretty good all around B-.
Michelin ???: incredible treadlife... but kinda pricey. B+
Toyo Proxxes (discountinued, now called T1S or something): had really bad luck with them, but they are not bad tires. no rating

I bought some cheap a** tires (like $25 per tire cheap)... they didn't feel good at all.

Not to stir the love, but I replaced some Kumho Ecsta ASX (something like that).

Those tires sucked big time. Noisy and soft feel. Had a MAJOR tire failure with them, not good.

Falken/Yoks = goodness for a good price.
Michelin = great tires, too pricey

I go through a set per year.

I like new tires too...except when I go to have my winter wheels switched over to my summers and I find out that my summer tires are completely bald and I have to buy a new set.

Oh c'mon. That means you get new tires! Sweetness.

But if you're driving a vette I can share your pain.

oh well, if they haven't change the prices back down to when they first introduced it, they are way too expensive.

Speaking of tires, I am noticing the "econo" car are now upgrading to 16 or 17 inch wheels as standard (civic, ,mazda3, and the new lancer); now this means tire replacement cost will play a larger role in purchasing factor. I drive pretty agressively and kill a set tires a year; this means I will have to pay at least $100 more if the wheel/tire size went up from 14/15 to 16/17. anyone agree on that?

my boss just had to replace her 17' tires on her Acura MDX, grand total: $800. yikes!
