The other day, my computer told me I had run out of space on c: drive while I wasn't doing anything that should have been adding things to my hard drive. So I ran windirstat and saw that I had some very large files in my user\appdata\local\temp directory. so I deleted all of them, because I thought since it was a temp directory it would be ok to do so. then I downloaded the newest updates to spybot and avg and ran them both.
the next evening I tried to upload some new music I had purchased from bandcamp to my amazon account and it seems as though amazon had rolled out a new import application that requires you to uninstall the old one to install the new one. so I went to uninstall the old one using programs and features uninstall feature. the amazon importer application is listed but when I go to uninstall it, it says that the setup.msi file necessary to download it is missing from the user\appdata\local\temp directory and it will not proceed. oops!! then when I try to just install the new one, it throws an error every time and does not complete.
amazon's customer support isn't really doing anything to help me, they just submitted a ticket. they said they would get back to me right away, but this was 4 days ago.
also I noticed that since that fateful day, some of my program icons in the start bar do not display properly, stuff like window, amazon, and adobe applications, not sure if this is a related issue.
in closing, I don't have any restore points for some reason as well...
any suggestions?
