Right now I have two cars, and Audi Q5 TDI and a Tesla Model S 85D. The Tesla I love driving and it's the perfect family wagon for my family (My 80 pound dog fits happily in the back). The Audi Q5 is a competent car, but I hate driving it. The transmission is slow to shift and the turbo lag combined with the conservative transmission drives me mad. With the Tesla (that my wife stole from me) that can be my family car. So I'm looking at selling the Audi and getting a type of German Sports Coupe (Manual transmission is a must so it's pretty much German cars). Next March is my Wife and I's 10 year wedding anniversary so I would want to do the European delivery.

For the longest time, I was actually considering a BMW M3. I have two young kids (7 and 4) and the extra doors seem like they would be a good idea. But it's still kind of big for me (I loved the e46 M3, and that was perfect size). The M4 seems huge (the proportions are off), and kind of blah to me. I drove an M235i, and that was a fun car, but a little dull for me. The BMW dealers in my area (Denver, CO) aren't making me feel good about a getting an M2 (Only MSRP, no Euro Delivery)

So the other day I said "fuck it" went to the local Porsche dealer. I've always thought the Porsche for me would have been the Cayman (Price plus Mid-engine chassis), but I would have to hold off since with my two kids I at least need some kind of seats for them. But I checked out a 911 and drove a Carrera 4. I have to say I was impressed, and now I can't stop thinking about. The BMW M cars now seem to be regular cars made sporty and now that I've driven a ground up sports car that I'm in love...

Any Porsche owners on here that can tell me if Porsche's are really that reliable? I would be looking at just a Base Carrera with the only options being the 4-way sports seats, Glass panorama roof and Sirius XM...

I'd say go for it and let me know what driving a 911 is like in CO. I'm up in ft Collins and am considering getting rid of my Sedan for a 996TT as a DD. . I WFH and drive less than 25 miles a week now

yeah, my wife has a RDX which takes her to work and back. I'm home and pick up our 5 year old from school. I would have loved if my dad picked me up in a 911 every day.

I have a bunch of friends in Europe that own various Porsches (people I worked with at my last company). All of them think the world of them and none seem to have problems other than the cost of typical maintenance. The one guy who had a "problem" was a rattle in his caymen...but otherwise the car was flawless. You really can't go wrong with the 911.

What part of Denver are you in?

Been daily driving my Carrera S for over 2 years and all it's cost me is regular maintenance. The reliability has been nothing short of amazing.

I'm in Highlands Ranch.

Yeah it's so impressive to me hearing how reliable Porsche's are. I usually just expect luxury brands (Audi, BMW, Mercedes) to be good new then money pits later...

So I drove a 911 Targa 4S today with a manual transmission... It was good... I was expecting more... Maybe my acceleration expectations has been skewed by my Tesla but for a car costing 125k the acceleration felt a little meh.

So I decided instead that I'm going to save some money and place a deposit on a BMW M2. I drove a M235i 2 weeks ago and I enjoyed it, I figured the upgrade in handling and braking and a little extra ooomph out of the engine should be good for me.

If were to really get the Porsche that I want, is the Cayman GTS. Until my kids are out of the house it's out of the question (They're 7 and 4).

BTW, tried to go to a Ford dealer to talk to someone about a GT350. They're wanting a 40k markup on them... No fucking way

911 has never been about straight line performance, you also happened to have driven the heaviest and slowest of the S models. if you wait a year the 991.2 is going turbo which will have more low end torque but still less than the model s, personally I'm a NA guy and bought a 991S a year ago and its been perfect. second porsche I've owned, first one was a boxster I put 36K mi and 15 track days on - pretty much bullet proof

should you still be interested take a look at this thread, easily 40K off C2S CPO cars with ~10K miles.
