Still think it is funny that people in this thread think they are entitled to the hard work of others.

Typical "takers" vs. "makers".

not sure what you mean here. Hard work is janitorial...they bust their ass each day. I can respect that. I used to shovel shit in kennels as a kid. Clean up bloody bowel movements from the sick. That was really low pay, but rewarding to move forward.

Sadly, most don't move forward and 20 years later demand retribution!

Of course, now I am also paying for those types, and in that expense; I am indeed entitled to it.

100k a year is a lot for a single person living in the middle of the country. 100k a year is not a lot for a family of four living anywhere near a decent sized city.

You're not gonna turn into some kinda real estate mogul making 100k a year... The naivety of some people.

I make 60k and my paycheck is about 1.5k biweekly so that's about 36k per year that I see. I would gladly take 60-70k. I am managing quite well with 36k, I own a 165k house. The bank gave me a limit of 200k originally, but I was making a bit less than 60k at the time. In fact just a bump from 60k to 62k has made a huge difference for me, well with lot of the overtime it's probably higher, but the base is 62k. Basically, any extra money after expenses is gravy. So yeah 100k and I could probably afford another mortgage if I wanted to. Though that's probably not what I'd do with the money, but I'd think about it. House flipping, or rentals can make decent money. Lot of work though.

When I bought the house I'm in now (175K), I was making in the high 50s, and it was doable, but not the easiest ...

I make a bit more now, but still not able to save nearly as much as I would like....

You are perfectly free to "take" your money to a society that is cheaper to support. I hear Somalia is nice this time of year. Honestly, if you dont want to support our society, kindly GTFO.

Just did my taxes last night. I'm so pissed how much tax I'm going to have to pay. I'm no longer eligibile for many deductions. I haven't even gotten to the AMT part yet!!!!!! Depending how this pans out I might switch political parties.....

Yes, it sucks. I made 141,000 and have 3 kids and a wife. I paid 21,000 dollars in taxes and only getting 1,800 back.

That doesn't sound right to me but for the first time this year, I don't get all of the child tax credit for all of my kids, there was also something else I was no longer eligible for.

Still, that doesn't sound right. I already filed, but I'm thinking of taking it somewhere to see if something is wrong.

Society isn't supposed to be "supported", it should be self sufficient, or else it's not much of a society at all.

If you don't like his opinion, maybe YOU should GTFO

Depends on the society, a civilized society will take care of those that can't support themselves.

The issue a lot of us have is there is a big difference between "can't" and "won't/don't".

I grumble every time I'm at walmart when somebody is paying for groceries with a link card (IL food stamp system) and talking on a brand new iPhone.

Can't buy groceries but can afford a $100 a month phone & data plan.

Nice.

Do you do the same grumble when you see Mitt Romney's effective tax rate?

deflection!

Rebound: So you support a flat tax-rate system? Because I do.

Or do you support more loopholes as lipservice to the critics of the current loopholes just to get/stay elected, and to leave the door open to repeat the same process in 4 years?

Yeah, just like i thought, a total hypocrite. Im done with this nonsense.

How am I a hypocrite? I simply agreed with the poster that there are takers and makers. You disagreed with his comment. I didn't. How does sharing your effective tax rate help?

Go back to taking...

Says the guy advocating a flat tax...

It's the only way to fix the loopholes. The same people complaining about Romneys 15% rate are the same ones who tried to "fix" the system by opening that loophole in the first place. Now people like Obama want to "fix" it again by shifting the rates around, only to allow the same thing to take place again. Theres 2 kinds of people here: those who use these "fixes" as political capital to keep getting elected, and those who buy the BS again and again.

You obviously fall into the 2nd camp since you can't see the irony of complaining about Romneys tax rate and then dismissing a one rate for all system.

Or Texas.

you paid 15% on 140k... what's your complaint again?

It's the only way to fix the loopholes.

Flat tax with a specified dollar figure 'return' sent every month. So everyone, no matter how little or how much or how earned pays, say 15%. Then the government sends back a flat dollar figure to everyone that works full time, no matter how little or how much they make, that's equal to the taxes on a full-time employee that makes under-poverty.
