I'm not really the Maserati type! I have the painfully predictable 3 Series, and am looking at getting a used 911 as a secondary fun car . . .
Congratulations! How is 'small' firm life? Are the hours as back-breaking as I hear they are at the big firms?
Congrats!
Since you made partner, you should buy the old Land Rover/Jag dealership at the corner of Washington & Hennepin Ave & turn it into the clubroom for ATOT: MN
I left the Air Force JAG Corps at the end of 2004, after six years on active duty. Since then, I have been working as an associate attorney at a small but very successful litigation firm in Minneapolis. We have had very good success on some high-visibility cases, including representing the property owners in the Minnesota Twins ballpark condemnation, the plaintiff in this police civil rights case - http://www.startribune.com/local/west/11592986.html?elr=KArksUUUoDEy3LGDiO7aiU - and the plaintiff in this huge unpaid-wages action - http://www.startribune.com/business/11218391.html (I was co-counsel on the latter two cases).
Anyway, after working at my firm for about 4 1/2 years, they yesterday told me I am being named a partner. I know this is probably insignificant to non-lawyers, but it's really a nice recognition of my work and a major step in career progress. Woohoo!
Not at all. My partners have always valued the importance of family, and my ordinary work day is 9 to 6 or 6:15 (depending on whether we are having happy hour with our fully-stocked bar at the office). Obviously I sometimes work long hours where litigation necessitates it, but generally our hours are very reasonable.
just checking... this doesn't happen to be Fabyanske does it? If it is, I'll have to take back my congrats.
So If I run over you crossing the street you shouldnt be compensated for lost work, injuries and such? Want blood feuds instead? What's your solution.
Pay for lost work, injuries, and such.. not tons of $$$ that the victim never sees.
