Dibs on cbrunny's stuff.

lol. You'll have to pay duty to get it across the border.

Dibs on cbrunny's wife.

If I'm dead, she'll be dead too. You're into that?

Dibs on cbrunny's daughter.

Outside of my Siberian Husky puppy, you're SOL on that one. But if you take Scout, you'll have to take Loki too!

Terrifying.

As if I'm surprised, this isn't helping....... gah!

I don't think people often die from hot air balloons. Short of a fire and catastrophic explosion of the fuel tanks the worst thing that can happen is drifting slowly down to a location you hadn't intended to land at.
Like a transformer farm, or the lion enclosure at the local zoo, or the local sewage treatment facility...

I'd take this over the first 2.

It is pretty cool seeing a bunch of those balloons in the air though. I can see how it could be fun. It's probably pretty peaceful being up there cruising. But still. Because death.

So you'll decelerate a little quicker....

Last time I checked, free falling thousands of feet into water versus dry land doesn't make a difference in the end result. Besides, on the insanely off chance that you didn't instantly die, you then drown/get eaten by sharks.

As Lana would say...

Nooooooooooooooooope.

We all might die at any time. Blood clot, gamma ray burst, police raid, car crash, whatever, and all of that could happen in your sleep, possibly even simultaneously.

It probably won't though.

Your body will physically stop faster. I'm not talking end result - we all know he'll be dead. :awe:

The question is: If you were in an air balloon and realized it's going down, would you ride it out or jump? :hmm:

Ride it out, unless it was an inferno like that one pic. The extra bulk will create more drag.

For the OP, carry an umbrella. If something happens, you can use it to float down like Mary Poppins.

Yeah, he dead.

Well, because I am MacGuyver-esque in many ways, I'd quickly take out my knife and cut each rope, tying each of the ropes around my arms. I would then float to safety using the giant balloon like a parachute and become a legend.

REDUCING YOUR RISK BY ANALYZING THE MOST COMMON CAUSES OF HOT AIR BALLOON CRASHES

The data suggests a number of key points in relation to hot air balloon crashes:

  • As a balloon pilot gains experience, they are less likely to be involved in an accident.
  • Balloon pilots with less “pilot-in-command” experience are significantly more likely to be involved in incidents than more seasoned pilots.
  • If a more experienced balloon pilot has an occurrence it is more likely to be an accident than an incident.
  • Balloon pilots with an accrued 600 – 800 hours of “pilot-in-command” experience are more likely to be involved in an accident than pilots with less experience.
  • >80% of fatal hot air balloon accidents are the result of a fall following a wire strike.
  • The United States suffers from the highest rate of accidents of all three countries examined by more than 30% at 33.62 per 100,000 hours of balloon flight.
  • Large Balloon Operations: Large passenger carrying balloons can carry up to 32 passengers. There is anecdotal evidence to suggest that where these larger balloons are used, the accident rate is many times higher than those in the more developed aviation environments. In fact, these balloons account for up to 80% of all hot air balloon accidents in some parts of the world.

I will NEVER get inside a basket with a large balloon over head. Screw that! I'd rather have wings. At least you can glide down. And helicopters can go to hell too.
