On April the 5th, 2004 @ 8:31pm PST, my dad past away. He had endured a 25 years battle against the hepatitis c virus. He was the best dad because he tried his best to help his family out in any way possible. This is even when he was very ill with the disease. Just two days prior, he was walking around and doing things like normal until later that afternoon, after waking up from a nap, he felt strange and started vomitting blood. I took him to the hospital @2:30pm, had to wait 30-40 minutes until he was admitted, then 10 minutes after some questionaires, he finally got a bed. I thought all was going to be ok until I experienced seeing him throw up blood at first hand. I was horrified and scared, because the amount he threw up was close or exceeding one liter. My dad then told me that he was not going to make it and to tell me to take care of my mom and sisters. After that, he just threw up more and more blood until he went into shock. That was the last time I heard my dad talk. They then hooked him up to a respiratory machine to help him breath and I, along with the nurses, transferred him to the ICU. They wanted to wait until he was more stable and do an endooscopy (sp?) @10am in the morning, but that was just too late. At around 4AM or so, he threw up a lot of blood again and his blood pressure dropped dramatically. I went to the ICU to see him and hoped that he could make it through, but in reality, I knew that it was finally my dad's time to go. The doctor was coming in to do an emergency procedure using the minnesota tube, where it would temporarily restrict the veins that had burst prior and stop/slow the bleeding. Well, to sum things up shortly after that, it was just a wait game until he went. I wll always remember my dad. I will always love my dad very much and believe that he was the best dad for my family and me. I am glad he does not have to suffer anymore.
