I come to you via safe mode in need of some help big time.

Just moved into a new apartment and went wifi with the roommate.

Keep on getting BSOD's constantly.

Last few times it said BAD HEADER POOL.

Is there any way I can get someone to look at these minidumps and tell me what I
am missing here?

Thanks ahead of time.

If you can zip and upload the dump file to a file hosting site (MediaFire, etc.), post the download link and I'll look at it with WinDbg.

While you're in Safe Mode; open an elevated command prompt and run chkdsk as shown below:

chkdsk C: /x /v /f /r /b (press enter)

BAD_HEADER _POOL errors are often the result of file system and/or disk errors. When chkdsk finishes running it will (hopefully) boot back to your normal desktop. If you're still only able to boot to the desktop in Safe Mode, again open an elevated command prompt and type:

sfc /scannow (press enter)

This runs the System File Checker which inspects and repairs any corrupt or damaged system files. I'd ask that you perform these two steps first, in order to eliminate file system and disk errors as possible causes.

Thanks for the heads up Bubbaleone -

I uploaded a rar of all of todays bluescreens.

http://www.mediafire.com/?27g8ukvwykln9z0

This way you have your pick of what you want to look for.

I ran the elevated chkdsk and it appeared to log into windows a little faster but aside that - as soon as I got to my desktop it hung for a bit - my wireless took forever to connect and windows explorer crashed and had to restart.

Im going to try sfc now after I post this.

But if you want specs on my machine here they are.

Im not past the idea that this may be the SSD going bad.

wfplwf.sys is the faulting module, and it's a Microsoft network driver: "WFP NDIS 6.20 Lightweight Filter Driver". Post the "CBS.log" that was created when you ran SFC; I'd like to look at what system files were corrupt and what got replaced.

You may benefit from running SFC a second time, but if that doesn't restore your networking files and drivers then a Win7 no-reformat, nondestructive reinstall would be my recomendation.

This is equivalent to the old XP repair installation and has the same advantage of retaining all your third-party programs and personal data, but all Microsoft system files, driver files and default registry entries will be restored to original.

Here's the wfplwf.sys info from your last dump file:

Running SFC another time showed no errors this time.

I wasnt aware of an over the top repair for win7

Ive done it 100s of times for xp so this should help - if I can find the DVD...

Just need to hope it made it in the move.

Thanks again for the help!

Im trying to figure out what has corrupted that file...

I'd pull the fan and heatsink, clean the CPU and heatsink surfaces with ipa, and apply a quality thermal grease. Your network files are likely hosed, and if running SFC a second time didn't fix it, just go with the repair install. And just a thought; have you been able to run a virus/malware scan?

Oddly things are all looking normal for now...
outside the heat.

As for malware / virus. I ran combofix, super anti spyware and scanned with AVG free (which i just swapped to)

Maybe A TDSSKiller scan is in order.

Bah! Active window just jumped again too...

TDSS cam back clean.

Sigh - its sad that an IT tech cant diagnose his own PC.

Sounds like a mechanic cant fix his own car.

So As I was typing this the active window jumped again.
But I lost connection to my wireless network while it happened.

This is wild.

I've made it a practice for years to use Sysinternals Autoruns to shutdown all the needless and potentially problematic background processes and apps that fire up as soon as you boot into Windows. Your machine will thank you, and you'll have a lot less headaches!

So after all of this.

It looks like I had some serious issues.

ended up running a piece of software called Auslogics Speed boost

Which actually helped and corrected a ton of errors in my registry.
Dont know how it happened but knock on wood. No BSOD's lately.

But may do an over the top repair at a later date and not in the middle of a work week where i am on call for the weekend.
