I need a good voice recorder.

I sometimes say funny things throughout the day but I don't always have a pen/paper around to write them down. I want a recorder that I can stick in a pocket, that is strong enough to record my voice.

Can't be too expensive though...let's put the cap at $50. I'll edit this if need be.

Get an olympus for about $70 to $100. They're solid for their size. I use one for my job all the time and it's an excellent backup for when you can't decipher your notes.

OP: I have a Panasonic one that I used when I was doing speaker meetings. Works like a champ.

$20 shipped and its yours.

I'd go with an Olympus, too. I use an Olympus VN2000 when doing fire investigations, and it performs flawlessly.
It's pretty tough, too.

You want the text, or the actual recording? Sifting thru hundreds of hours of recordings isn't going to work unless you have NO life, which won't be worth recording anyways.

my wife has an older model olympus, it works great, you can choose the bit rate to record so you can get more recording time
