things i want
1. High quality and feels like it was built well, no flemsy crap
2. Hard to move the thing around, i like my joysticks stiff, prefferably with a thick rubber base between the base of the unit and the stick itself
3. be able to fly well in battlefield with it
4. needs to be USB
5. available from CC, OD, or NewEgg

things i dont care about
1. Force Feedback
2. Allot of buttons

I don't know about the best but I recommend you to stay away from Logitech's Wingman Rumblepad.
I purchased two of them, based on the name of Logitech in peripherals and guess what? They suck regarding quality. Both caused me problems in less than a month. I would look for a Microsoft product.

I have exactly that stick. I initially went through two logitechs within a three month period.... Major disappointment.

I then bought the Cyborg 3d Gold.... I've had it for nearly two years and it's still flying perfectly. Keep in mind that I fly a lot... Both in BF, but mainly in Aces High online..... Many hours every week. And this stick still feels like new. It's built solid.

Keep in mind that I think they discontinued this stick, but you can still find them. The new model of the Saitek is nice, but doesn't have the same feel of the cyborg gold.

If yo can afford it, a CH Flightstick product is always good... and there isn't anything else in it's class, but they are a small fortune.

Yeah, I've had the saitek x35t for may years now....can't beat the programability for the fight sims, I haven't tried the cyborg gold....CH by the way is used in the airforce for their flight simulators since its an almost direct copy of the real thing !

I really like the above joystick from Newegg. It's a logitech, but the base is heavy, so it won't move around and it fits the hand really well.

I decided to go cordless, so I bought the cordless version which is also good. However, the base isn't quite as heavy.

Another vouch for this JS... I bought it specifically to use in BF1942, and now that I've moved onto BF:V I find piloting choppers is a piece of cake with it. All those buttons don't hurt either.

The stick is pretty rigid, without being overly rigid... it's probably better you try it out at a local store though cuz what I think is rigid could be different from your opinion. The base is very sturdy (corded version)

A vote here for the CH gear-plastic, but heavy plastic-industrial strength. CH makes controls for real life airplanes, and their sim gear is fantastic. Progamming is as simple or complex as you want to make it; I don't program at all, just use the default assignments.

The Cougar seems to be a love/hate type of thing-some swear it is the best gear out there, others swear at it.

I have never seen anyone badmouth CH gear.
