I need a new FPS game

Been trying to play Arma 3 with different mods and stuff but it's just too difficult, plus its no fun getting sniped from miles away. You also pretty much need a group of people to play with. Solo just doesn't cut it.

Didn't have much fun in the BF1 beta and have never liked the BF games.
I bought CoD Advanced Warfare for cheap awhile back but don't care for it.
I also have Rainbow Six Siege but pretty much requires you to play with a group of people you know so you can work together because no one works together in pub groups.

Just tried the Sniper Elite 3 game and that is boring in SP. Didn't try MP yet but doubtful there's many people/servers.

Looking for something that has WW1 weapons or later, but not like future like lasers and stuff.
Prefer to stay away from simulator style games like Arma.

Seems like everything is going the way of requiring you be in a squad or play as a cohesive group.

R6 is really awful in random Pubs but what I would suggest if you have no friends with the game, play a bunch, get good with the game, get on mic and be interactive with people, and if you're semi competent you'll get a bunch of friends requests after good games. That way you can start throwing together teams who aren't as crap as pubs and having some fun. I've met some really cool randoms who I've grouped with an it makes pubs bearable.

Newer Doom game was badass though MP is already basically dead. Bioshock series if you haven't already. Killing Floor 2 has had tons of new content in the past year so that's great for MP especially with friends. Counter Strike GO of course if you like competitive. Not sure if these fall into what you're looking for but figured I'd try. :O

I started the the wolfenstein that came out a few years ago but couldn't get into it. Also tried the 1st metro game and didn't care for it either. Have no interest in new doom. Already played and finished all bioshock games and stalker games. Have cs go but don't like it, and tried killing floor but not interested (too much like left for dead which i didn't like). Played fallout 4 but never finished it. Also have insurgency but dont like the character movement. Too slow and clunky.

I really liked the older cod games, like cod 4 and earlier.

I prefer like real world type shooters vs space or supernatural. Not totally against them but really prefer real world type stuff.

It sounds like your having the same problem I am.
Are you sure your not just losing interest in gaming.
I took 2 or 3 years off, came back, but its never been the same.
I did really like Rise of the tomb raider though, and I like racing games.

What about F.E.A.R series? It's somewhat supernatural based, but the gameplay is very much you being able to shoot humans in the face with a railgun and nailing them to walls.

Farcry would be another good one to play if you're looking for a FPS.

If you want a really good game and you don't mind some survival/horror mixed in, I highly suggest Dying Light and the expansion The Following. If you ever played Dead Island and had fun, then you'll fall in love with Dying Light.

Mount and Blade: Warband would be a good choice if you want something in the medieval setting where you can do pretty much whatever the hell you want to do. It's absolutely ridiculous how much you can do in that game.

I could just be losing interest.

I have played all the farcry games except the newest one (stone age era or whatever). Haven't finished 4 yet but i get so bored due to the repetitive nature.

Also have just cause 3 (not fps but close enough) and that was fun for awhile but also became repetitive.

I played the original FEAR, not sure if i ever finished it though. Not really a fan of the horror stuff though.

I have mount and blade warband and that was fun for a bit but quickly became repetitive too.

Dark Souls
Shadow of Mordor
Xcom/Xcom2
Saints Row4

As far as FPS games go, im playing Mirrors Edge Catalyst right now. It's a bit frustrating at times but all in all its a good play...I think you could prolly find it under $30 too and I don't think anyone mentioned Borderlands 1&2

I tried both Borderlands and didn't care for them, but maybe if I had someone to play co-op with, it might have been better.

You really do need friends to play FPS. Run and gun solo FPS games get tiring so I am not surprised your having trouble finding something.

Make some new virtual friends and your experience will be much better.

i have tried the Left for Dead games but only solo, and didn't like them solo.

I played L4D as a single player game and it was a blast. With L4D2 I had a few friends who also had the game and we started playing together. Long story short, competitive L4D2 ruined the game for me. I went from playing VS for fun and screwing around (jockey strutting was always fun) to playing solely for wins. After we played a few Confogl competitions, we got burnt out and moved on to other games.

i have taken a long break and i've played pretty much everything you guy have listed. i'm trying to get into something new.

If its FPS you're after I doubt there will be anything new to find. Its probably the one genre of PC gaming that has seen the least development to its core mechanics over the years. Either they nailed it years ago or there is not much scope to add new dimension for first person shooting.
Every generation the graphics have gotten vastly better and the interface gets a little slicker but ultimately the games are the same.
Maybe VR will add a new dimension to FPS but I imagine you would need a strong stomach to play for long.

Maybe you should give the new wolfenstein a second chance, it knows its an old school FPS at heart but boy does it do it well.

I have not played it, but Singularity is a game that lot's of people seem to like but that flew under the radar of most.

Also, I'm a huge Hard Reset fan....if you haven't tried that, take a look.
