But I'd like input from the wise folks at AT to help me choose.

Right now I'm using some 5-8 year old Logitech combo (wireless mouse with a charging base that stopped working 5 years ago and a wireless keyboard with "media" controls (volume wheel).

The entire combo was like $50 (bought a refurb from Amazon). It's now gunky and worn and well....I'm ready to upgrade.

I game about 1-2 hours/night but nothing MP. I don't need that level of precision.

Here's what I'm looking for:

1) solid build quality
2) wireless mouse (I've gotten used to no wire)
3) wired keyboard (no need for wireless)
4) don't need a lot of programmable buttons on the mouse
5) don't need backlit keyboard (but wouldn't complain if it was)
6) want a mouse that feels good in my hand and keyboard that feels solid to the touch
7) Total budget for both is $100

What do you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

I recommend you visit a good local store and physically examine and feel all the keyboards and mice. When you find the right one, then buy it on lone.

I went to OfficeMax a few weekends ago and tried that. It was pretty clear that their inventory is geared towards business.

I want something that is all-purpose and/or geared a little bit towards gaming. Hoping to get to Frys this weekend.

Am I the only one that hates Logitech products? Ive had nothing but bad luck with them.
I cant count the number of keyboards, mice, speakers, etc Ive thrown in the trash with the Logitech name on it. For business gear, Microsoft keyboards, mice etc all seem to last longer. the last Logitech item I purchase was a week ago. A g710+ keyboard. What a p.o.s. one key was cracked out of the box and 2 keys required a greater amount of force to register. The only Logitech product Ive ever had good luck with is an old mx500 mouse. Don't even get me started on the headsets.

Go for Logitech keyboard.. i am using it since 6 years...best quality..

The Logitech of six years ago is not the Logitech of today.

They still make some good mice (along with some crappy ones), but they've gotten way too cute with their keyboard layouts, and that's something I don't have the patience to deal with.

Well here's what I went with:

Mouse: Logitech G700 Gaming Mouse ($49.99 at Amazon)
KB: Corsair K30 ($39.99 at Fry's)

The mouse has way more buttons than I'll ever need, but it felt good in my hand.
The KB is backlit (which I don't really need), but appeared to be well-built and felt really good even though it's not mechanical.

They're wrapped and under the Christmas tree at the moment. I'll start using them Thursday
