I'm thinking of trying out a copy of Windows XP Corporate I acquired, but I want the safety net of being able to easily restore my system to its former state if things go awry. I currently run Windows 2000 on one 30GB disk (6-7GB currently used) with an additional 40GB disk to store "stuff" which has 13GB free space. Both disks are NTFS single partitions.
Ghost 2001 does not support saving images to NTFS partitions.
I have regular backups of both disks using Microsoft's Backup, but is there any utility like Ghost I can use just this one time to exactly backup my primary disk? It has to support saving to NTFS partitions (preferably over Firewire, as I have a large external backup drive), and it would be nice if it could "compress" unused space (as my system partition is only 6GB used, it would be nice if the backup image was of a similar size). Any utility like this?
