I have 2 computers, Computer A (main computer wtih all videos and etc..) and computer B ( use for gaming and etc...). Since my parents are divorce, computer A is at another location then computer b. Is there a way to access taht computer A's files and view them (but don't have to download it to computer b)?

I tried remote access before, I used Radmin. I can't view videos on that desktop. Can you even do that? The file transfers between my 2 cmoputer is quite slow too, i transfer videos like 200 mb each.

The videos may need to be in a streaming format to view without completely downloading first. But if the network bitrate does not exceed the file's then it still won't work, at least without sufficient pre-buffering to make up the difference over the total file.

Remote access (Remote Connection) is not designed for the datarates of video (RDP).

There are some file storage services, but $ per month. Can you swing $100? Why not get a commercial USB2 external or a chassis and HDD? You can carry it with you and it is more secure than trying to open some P2P port to access the files across the internet. It will also give you much more space than one of the file hosting services. And, a portable HDD is cheaper than a USB memory card per GB.

Wow. I have been looking for something like this too since a while now and I havent found one decent solution which can stream videos over the internet.

It possible could be due to the fact that downloaded videos are in such varying formats that it might not be easy to stream them and have all codecs at the same time.

One option I found that works for me is storing the videos from my computer to my Tivo and then using the slingbox to stream them. Works fantastic but you need a Tivo and a slingbox for that.

Am not sure if ORB TV does that but if it does then thats probably the cheapest way to do it.

Any other ideas guys. Am sure there is a huge market for a software of such a sort.

Install VLC on both computers.
Remote desktop to that machine, and have VLC initiate streaming.
View the stream on your client machine.

The quality will obviously depend on bandwidth, but with some tweaking, and a good quality codec, it's enough for some scenarios.

VPN! Then just view the other computer's files as if it were on a LAN with you.

The Encryption will probably slow it down.

Which gives me the idea. What ports does windows use for the Map Networking Drive feature?

Although enormously insecure that would probably work just fine over the internet.
