People will argue with you that a 10 cent thing should cost a nickel, but still they will pay 50 cents for an ice cold Coke.

I got the Avery Return Address lables and used my printer to turn those into price tags. I had a full sheet of .25, .50, 1.00, 2.00, 3.00, 5.00, 10.00, 15.00, 25.00 price tags in a matter of minutes.

Put up signs that say all prices negotiable,

Display items neatly, make sure all toys have batteries in them, make sure all electrical items are plugged in and can be demonstrated.

Put it up on craigslist. You could probably get rid of dog feces if you advertised it in the "free stuff" section.

Someone mentioned it above, but you can make a significant amount (compared to what you make on a garage sale) selling drinks - get a cooler and fill it with cans of coke/diet coke/or whatever. You can even get the store branded stuff and still sell it for 75 cents a can. You don't have kids, so the lemonade/ kool-ade stand is out. That is, unless there are kids next door or you have nieces or nephews or something. When I used to go to garage sales weekly during the summer (back when I was bored), there'd never be more than one sale that did that. The kids made a fortune because although it'd be 25 or 35 cents a cup, everyone gave them a dollar and said "keep the change."

My one experience with CL free was about 3 dozen people asking me very indepth questions about a free fridge. Finally I was just saying, if you want it, get it, take your chances. It still went in a week.
