Ok, so I went to this bread and sandwich shop I think its called panera bread. I had this awesome sandwich with the cheese on it i never had before, adn this cheese was just so great, I have to have more. I asked the waitress what kind of cheese it was, and she said gouda.
alls well so far, so I went to giant eagle and bought a block of gouda, brought it home and it tastes horrible. Nothign like the cheese at the restaurant. It was horrible. This was a half moon shaped cheese. It was mild and creamy, like munster or provolone. and it had some smokeyflavor and was brownish about 1/8 inch from the edge inward, so im assuming it was some type of maple or hickory smoked. But the gouda cheese i got at the giant eagle was hard and brittle and sharp like white cheddar.
Then I started looking on the internet and found out that theres are several hundred (exxadutation) types of gouda cheese. So can sum1 help me pick the right gouda?
Ive seen dutch, holland, european, all types of gouda cheese, but i cant identify or find the one i had at this panera sandwich place.
Can sum1 help?
