Can anyone recommend a good air purifier for my apartment. It is 1000 square feet and it overrun by dust. It is nasty how quickly the dust appears on everything. I have a little $40 Holmes filter and it cannot put a dent in my problems.

Can anyone recommend anything better? Thanks.

Ionic Breeze. Two of them, Quatro and GP. Expensive, but they work. I clean them every week, so no buzz or any problem people complain about.

I've heard that the Ionic Breeze is garbage. I even heard there is lawsuits against them for making false claims.

You hear a lot - any evidence to back this up?

How well do these things work for getting rid of dust? I swear my PC can turn "fuzzy" inside in just a few months!

They don't get rid of the dust, they're not vacuum cleaners. All they do is get the smell out of the air. You wanna get rid of dust, VACUUM.

A quick Google search reveals all the evidence you need to indicate not everyone is pleased with the Ionic Breeze. Consumer Reports did not even recommend it. In fact, they slammed it bigtime.

I unfortunately cannot vacuum my desk and dresser. I guess vacuuming more often will allow my carpet to absorb more dust instead of it always floating around.

Do a Google search and you will see what Consumer Reports had to say about the Ionic Breeze. It's all there...

Do not buy a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze.

Consumers Reports just did a test on air cleaners and dissed this big time.

Here is their top 5 (cost/filter):

Friedrich C-90A $500/$72
Kenmore 83202 83200, Whirlpool AP51030HO $350/$220
Whirlpool AP45030HO $270/$130
Bionaire BAP-1300 Holmes HAP675RC $225/$132
Honeywell Enviracare 50250 $180/$156

Just subscribed to Consumer Reports. They say:

"...Air cleaners like these are a type of electrostatic precipitator: They impart an electrical charge to particles that stick to oppositely charged collectors. Sharper Image, Honeywell, and Hoover precipitators are quiet and cost little to run. However, our tests show that they are not effective."

Well thank you Captain Obvious!

Do they help cut down on the dust in the air, thusly reducing how much will settle on surface?
