Yer welcome. I find it makes a big difference in performance to only have necessary services enabled. If you like guides, here's my favorite one to optimize XP.

well i think i might have fixed or at least figured out my problem.I think it was in fact heat.I rigged up some more fans in my case one blowing directly in between the heat sink and my CPU.The temps are very nice now (34C )after running morrowind for 24 straight hours.So then i fugured maybe i could put my case back on,no..The temps reached up to around 50C and then it crashed.So im just gonna have to leave it off untill someday when i can afford a new case and some water cooling

Ok well im actually still having problems.I tried running MVP Baseball and it crashed within 15 mins.The temps were still only like 41C when it happned,has heat been ruled out!?So i went out and ordered that ANTEC 480W True.In the mean time i ran Sisoft Sandra 2k3Pro and it tells me that my ATI Radeon doese not have an Interupt assighned.Thats and IRQ right?Well also within Sandra is says the radeon is paired with my SB Live on IRQ 16.So what am i supposed to make of that?And under Direct X it says "IPX connection for direct play Version 6.00 function unavailable.Doese this indicate a problem,or are you poeple getting sick of my problems yet and forgoten my post or will that new PSU fix this shit?:brokenheart:

it could be your soundcard. SB Live gave me headaches all the time.

HAHA... I'm laughing so hard my jaw hurts!

Dude, I think a number of us guys have run into these
sort of systems when it just feels like you don't know
what the heck is going on anymore. One day your sure
it's the heat then another it's the volts, so on and so
forth. Then one day you roll out of bed and the answers
just come to your brain like magic.

Did you ever check to see if the fans on your old PSU are
working?

You should read up and see what volts your CPU needs to
run and make sure your motherboard is not over doing the
voltage. The same goes for the DDR voltage because that
can effect things as well.. but this is just to make sure there
is nothing cooking away to make heat.

Your temps look fine to me so I'd say it's something else
however you did say it ran more stable with the side off. So
this is why I said to check the PSU and make sure its fans
are working because it adds up.

You want more fans blowing out then into your case. Odds are
that you can remove the heat faster than trying to cool it down
with normal outside air. This would only make the air that is hot
swirl around alot longer.

You don't want the radeon paired with my SB Live on IRQ 16.
But I would not say that is the problem here. Move the sound
card into another slot or force it to change IRQ's on those PCI
slots to another. Also move the DDR rams around into other slots,
this is just for the heck of it to say we did something before
the new PSU comes in the mail.

Like TronX said, move your sound card down a couple slots or else it will share an irq with your video card. And I still think a new psu may solve your problem. The Fortron/Sparkle I mentioned are great psu's and a very good value. Good luck and post back with the results.

I had the exact same problem lordhypnos, it took me from changing my memory, to psu, to heatsink and even cpu to just give up and brought it to a tech store and let them dignose it. THey found out that my mobo was the problem. I've change my psu three times. from a generic 400 watt to an antec 380 and finally antec truepower 400 watt. Just fixing my damn comp cost me ~$250.
My advice is to try changing the mobo.

I did that dude,this thing is brand new and has the same prob as the last.And in fact i did take it to a computer store (obviously a crappy one)and they charged me $50 to re-install drivers and tiold me it was fixed,and wasnt.So i took it back and they again sent it back busted.They wouldnt give my money back so i gave up on that place.The only thing yet to be changed is the PSU im waiting on....but untill then Im just hanging here,and with my luck i'll be back on these forums the day i get the new PSU.:disgust:

I fixed it!It was a bad stick of ram after all.I removed a 128 meg stick and have been problem free since.Last night i was able to run 3dmark2k1 and prime 95 simaltaneously for 13 hours 51 mins.Wow im so happy,thanks for all the help guys.

I had a similar problem a while back. I gutted my machine and replaced the motherboard/cpu/ram and ps. I found the problem to be the onBoard Audio. Even with no sound card, the onBoard Audio caused the system to crash with symptoms similar to yours.
