I need help with IE5.5 downloading - I need to burn to cd.

I need to download IE5.5 so I can burn it to a cdr and take it to a friends place who is on a 56k modem.

His outlook 5 isnt working for somereason I cant start it if I click on it so I was planning to upgrade the brower and put in a new version of IE.

i do not want that 495K download.. that we have.. I want the full thing the 15Mb thing.

well i know when you download IE5.5 onto a computer, it downloads .CAB files from microsoft, and after installing it leaves them on your computer in C:\Windows Update Setup Files...(i forget the folder, but its something similar)...so I think if you burned that folder (and that little 495k install file) to a CD, put that folder on his computer in the same spot, and install IE5.5 and choose the same install options, it wouldn't download anything from MS if it can find those CAB files in that folder.

damn.. I need something for 98 not W2K.. I have W2K installed on this..

I guess its time to fire up the other machine that runs 98 in this house and upgrade to 5.5 and stuff it there.

Download the small file, start it up. Click "Install Minimal or customize your browser." Click Next. Click Advanced. Click "Download Only", Click OK. Click Next. Select the OS you want it for. Click Next. Download begins.

If you are running Windows 2000, you won't be able to do the minimum/customize install trick. Your only option will be to do the full install. If you tried to use the installer program on a Win9x box, that's when you'll have the option.

I have a 98 machine and presently burning the stuff to cd..

glad i had one machine iwth a partition with 98. ya!
