k i just got my new computer today, i hooked everything up and it didnt power on, as in i pressed the power button and nothing happened. i double checked all my connections, then i thought that it was my power supply, after messing around for a bit it did turn on, but then i would just randomly shutdown after/before it would post. it did this like 2 times, and on the third time i started up but immediatly shut down. i thought it was dead, but when i hooked it up to my old computer, it started up without any problems.

now i thought it could be another thing giving me problems, but when i used my old psu (enermax liberty 500w), my new computer works flawlessly. my old mobo is 20 (asus k8v deluxe) pin and my new one is 24 pin (gigabyte 965p-ds3), but other than that i cant possibly come up with any reason as to why this is happening. i would like to use the corsair with my new build, cause the wiring on the liberty just frustrated me, so can anyone give me insight into why this is happening?

ps. everytime i make a post here, it gets completly ignored, please help me!!! it would be greatly appreciated!

my old comp specs are:
amd64 3200 (s754 clawhammer)
asus k8v deluxe
ati x800xl aiw
1 gig mushkin pc3200 ram
maxtor 160gb ide hdd

new comp specs:
gigabyte 965p-ds3 (rev3.3, bios updated and everything)
c2d e4300
evga 8800gts 640mb
2 gig crucial balistix tracer dd2-800
WD 400g hdd

Very strange ... I have no idea what the problem is.

Might want to contact Corsair support & see what they have to say.

If the old PS works in the new machine. Then the new PS must be bad replace it with another new one. New parts can be defective.

I just got in a new DS3 3.3 on Tuesday. When I first attempted to boot, no dice: the fan would spin for a split second but nothing would happen. I tried everything (and I mean everything) to get it to work.

.....clearing the BIOS with a jumper fixed it (weird I know).

He hooked the Corsair up to his old machine & it worked so it can't be completely dead, but it is possible that is isn't outputting its rated power & has just enough to power the 3000+/X800XL but is falling a little short on the C2D/8800GTS.

Since the Corsair 520 watt when working properly should be able to power either of these machines easily, I agree that it is very likely bad ... I still think contacting Corsair support is the best bet as a next step.

Sounds like they sent you one that got returned.

alright, for now i just took my enemax and im using that to power my new rig for now, im going to go and get it replaced. thanks for the help everyone! i think that what Captante said is true, cause the only time it powered on and posted was when i only hooked up the 24pin and 4 pin to the mobo and nothing else (left video card unplugged), when i tried it with the video card was when it died.

Use only one stick of RAM, then immediately raise your vdimm to +.3v. Shut down after saving the BIOS, then add the second stick. That should fix your problem.
