I need quicktime pro help this time

I just got an ati all in wonder card w/o software. Anyone know of some good software that allows the watching of tv and/or ripping to divx/xvid. Thanks!

Just download MMC 8.5 from ATI.com, its free for downloading (except the DVD decoders) and works well with AIW cards. Make sure you read the install notes and install the proper drivers and support software.

Anybody know of anything else? Not saying I won't use this, but I was just wanting to know what the best software was, and what it costs. Free is sweet, but I really just want what's the best, and don't mind buying it.

depends what you mean by rip. I use the software to record from cable and then burn to dvd or svcd the ati software is the best software I have used so far, other software I have tried, powerVCR2+, sagetv and theatre tek. Of these there are some big and small differences, like ATI supports Closed Caption sagetv does not, can't remember the others, most of them do support recording in 720x480 with DVD timings and powervcr2 and ati support vcd and SVCD also. I would at least try the Demos of the pay software and decide what you like best..


AS for the rip none of them will rip a dvd to your hard-drive unless you mean something else (search for dvd decrypter for that)

If you are using a AIW the best software for the TV capture is from ATI. It fairly simple to setup and record with. I currently use MMC 8.1 on my AIW 7500 and it's the best I have every used. I also use Nero 5.5 to burn my SVCD to play in my DVD player.

Well, I just tried installing the software mmc 8.5 (which takes a lot of installs, goodness!). Now when I try to run the tv part it says: EAZYLOOK can not be started because of out of date display drivers Please ensure that you have installed the latest Radeon display drivers

So, I'm not sure what type of card I have. All I know is that it is an all in wonder with 32mb. Does anybody know what drivers I need?! on the ati site it gives me the choices of Radeon Family, Rage 128 PRO family, RAGE 128 family, and Rage PRO family, anyone have any ideas of which my card is? Thanks!

I assume you mean Quicktime Pro 6.0. I got it installed and everything, but it won't play my avi's that I ripped from tv. It says: You may experience problems playing a video track in " " becaue the required compressor could not be found. Would you like to close the movie or continue?

What do I need to download now to play avi's? How do you edit them? Sorry I'm being an idiot, but thanks for all the help!

You should change the output type from avi (ati recomended) to mpeg2, the avi format that ati uses is propriatary and will not allow you to edit it... there may be some conversion utilites or you may be able to convert it from inside mmc, I will check to see. I have never used quicktime to edit video so I do not know how well it works... I use studio 8 but that is really best for editing DV source and will work but is $100 for something you should be able to do for free.
