I need some advice/tips

My goal is not to get huge or anything, all this is for exercise because I have been pretty lazy(exercise related anyway) for a while. I just want to slim down some and add a little muscle but most of all stay active and get in better shape overall

I started walking last month on a treadmill I bought, I do it everyday and do at least 30 minutes, sometimes a little more. I started using a Fitbit at the same time and it has this little Fitstar app that does a little 7 minute work out which I started doing. It isnt much but it gets me a little exercise that is better than nothing. I also have a basic weight bench that I want to utilize better, one day I do some bench presses then the next day I do curls. It isnt a lot of weight but like I said early, it is better than nothing. What exercises with my weight bench could I add that I could do? Any suggestions on stuff to add/change? I dont have barbells so I have just been doing curls with the same bar I do bench presses with so I think i am going to buy some barbells.


Oh and I have cut out most of my excessive sugar, I used to drink only sweet tea, coffee with cream and water and now I only drink water and unsweet tea with sweet n low but water most of the time. I also cut out all the junk food I was eating frequently like fast food/candy and stuff like that.

You are doing great.
But sugar tea is no good try to eat green tea without sugar. You can try honey with your tea.

You can also drink a glass of water blending with mint,ginger and lemon in empty stomach in every morning.
It helps really well.

And when you do exercise or walk, do it at least for 45 minutes.

I don't do cross fit or curls, so can't help on those.

The tea is with sweet n low and not normal sugar, I hope that is fine. I dont mind drinking plain water

I'd suggest adding some body weight exercises, air squats, burpees, pullups, lunges, split squats, pushups, etc. There is a lot you can do without much equipment. I wouldn't bother with the curls. With the bar you can do deadlifts though. Just be careful and make sure your form is correct, which can be hard to do without help.

Love the fit bit. I've tried fitstar a bit in the past and while the platform wasn't very aesthetically appealing nor stimulating in just about any way, the concept is a good one in my mind. Some of their longer workouts are worth looking into if you're just getting started. You're the target market for those, so take advantage.

With the bench you can do quite a bit of things. Put your feet on the ground and do push ups with your hands on the bench. Put your feet on the bench and do decline push ups with your hands on the floor. Sit on the edge of the bench, put your hands near your butt, put your feet straight out, and do dips. Step ups onto the bench. Do lateral jump squats over the bench.

Sounds like you're doing great. Keep it up.

You need to workout and eat the right food. Food is another 80% of our body while 20% is base on workout. but don't eat too much.

Congrats, just make sure as you cut your food intake you also eat a variety of whole foods so your nutrition needs are fully dealt with.

Yeah I am working on it but I have made a huge improvement, I used to eat fast food a lot and no longer do. I am very active in looking at sugar/calorie ect intake now, it is hard since sugar is in all kinds of stuff

Processed foods have lots of added sugar. Only natural sugar in fruits and vegetables and if you are in the Northern Hemisphere it's party time for fresh fruits and vegetables.

How long have you been eaten the right food? I am trying to be on diet. But It is hard for me to do it.

I dont eat all healthy food, my portions are smaller and I dont eat all the fast food I was. My diet could still be better for sure but it is a ot better than it was

I sometimes eat junk food when I could not avoid when I am so much busy with my work.

That's fine, but if you really want to cut it out, meal prep is your friend. Make sure you have with you at work whole fruits and vegetables. You can even pre-bake potatoes and then bring a potato with and eat it cold, or heat up in a microwave.
