If you actually find CAS2 2x1gig PC4000 ram please let me know Id definitly be interested. I just replaced 4x512megs of Kingston HyperX pc3200 @ 2-3-2-6-2t with a pair of 1gig OCZ Gold PC4000 @ 3-3-3-4-8-1t. Its not much of an upgrade really I guess but I can run 1T and 1:1 at 250mhz bus speed with the OCZ, the HyperX needed a divider and 2t when running the bus at 250mhz. SO on paper I have more bandwith and a 1t command rate with the OCZ so I guess its an upgrade, but in the real world I dont really feel a differance. Im guessing if I could run the OCZ at tightertimings the differance would be more noticeable? What do you guys think is the best 2x1gig OC memory out there right now?? I like the OCZ Gold for the price which was $200 on sale at newegg. How does the OCZ Platinum compare??

The pricey OCZ Platinum 3-3-2-8 2gb kit uses Infineon Rev-C chips, simliar as Mushkin Redlines but don't overclock at all. After being a memory whore going thru six different sets of memory last year, I decided to get a set of the OCZ Gold XTC which uses the Samsung UCCC chips at 3-4-3-8 @ 250(Outpost.com for $164 AR). In real world apps, you won't notice any real difference between the different 2gb kits. Getting a refund for my Crucial Ballistix made me realize that it was silly to spend $300 for memory.

From what I've been able to see for results, imho, the current G.Skill HZ's appear to be using a good batch of Samsung UCCC chips and I've seen folks get up to 280mhz. I haven't really tried playing around w/ my sticks too much but have been able to get them to 265 w/ a little tweaking.

This is what I went with. I bought second day shipping, so I should have these on Tuesday. Coincidently, this coincides with the beginning of a 3 day off period so I'll have time to play.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

G.Skill HZ, like the ZX, seem to be hit or miss with overclocking. There's been a few success stories written in the forums but a few sob stories too. Mine have been disappointing so far, I cant get stable at or above 270MHz with 3-4-4-8 timings, nor at 2.5-3-3-6 at 229MHz. They are solid at 229MHz 3-3-3-6. I'm going to have another bash overclocking them this week. Good luck with yours.

Thanks. All I'm hoping to get is 3-3-3-8 1T at 250MHz. Anything better than that would be gravy.

I have now used 2 sets of GIGARAM from Newegg in my MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum.

Had them running at at DDR500 250FSB 4x 1:1 timings were around 2.5-5-4-7 @2.85v (don't exactly remember the last 3 timings)

These were a bit tricky to get going at DDR as they use SAMSUNG UCC chips and DO NOT like high volts. I tried everything between 2.6v-2.8v and coudn't even get them running at DDR480 at stock 3-4-3-8. Would seem to pass MEMTEST only to fail STRESS PRIME. I was all but ready to return them when on a whim I tried a mear 2.5v and now they are running 3-4-3-8-3-3-10-16 in the BIOS DRAM settings.

These are with everything running that I normally have running at startup.

Without taking off the heat spreader, how did you find out which particular ICs were on your RAM modules?

I know I can ask the OCZ support guys here on AT forums, hopefully they'll answer.

I had a pair of OCZ Value VX sticks. One did DDR 576@2-2-2-7 w/3.4v. I burned out one stick doing that, though, RMA'd in the hope of receiving the same thing, but instead, I got regular gold. So if you can find a pair of those, they might do well for you.

EDIT: I'm stupid, you want 2x1GB. Well, good luck.

The OCZ Gold XTC DDR500 worked out great for me. I got my 250MHz running at 3-4-3-8-1T with 2.8V. Thanks for the discussion and the suggestions guys.
